Meet LaRon Bryson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful LaRon Bryson . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with LaRon below.

LaRon , we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hops that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
Honestly.. Showing up, which sounds like the easiest part but but ends up being the hardest. Struggling with mental health the smallest tasks like getting up in the morning, putting clothes on, trying to get in the shower or even to eat something becomes this giant battle in my head. I tell myself thousands and thousands of times… get up, get through the day, you can do it… Just show up. Because you can’t miss or make the shots if you’ve not in the gym. Applied to my music, it’s all about getting those hours in. When I’m at my lowest points my art has been the best way for me to express myself. It’s my therapy. Staying positive and continuing to push myself when I’m struggling mentally is why I’m still here. No matter how much life has kicked me down, I’ve always gotten back up. That’s the key. That’s the difference between people who sulk in the negatives and the people who turn those negative into positives. Don’t sell yourself short by stopping now.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is LaRon Bryson and I’m an independent musician from San Antonio, Texas. For the last six months, I’ve dropped a Freestyle every single Friday and continued to create compelling content, making a name for myself inside the city. Recently, I dropped the first single off of my upcoming EP “For The Few” called “Runnin’” and rolled out the track and music video with my first billboard in Times Square. Currently, I’m still pushing the visuals as we speak but also gearing up to release more singles in the following months leading up to the release of FTF. Looking forward to push my craft, but most importantly, push the level of artistry and pave a new lane for the few going through it with me.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistency, failure & ambition are all lessons that I learned in the beginning of my journey to progress to where I am now. Because when I first started, I failed a lot. I got made fun of a lot. I was laughed at and told I couldn’t achieve what I wanted to. But outside of the hate, envy and jealousy I experienced… I kept putting my hours in. I stayed consistent to my goal. I turned L’s into W’s. Why? I was passionate, it was my ambition telling me that I could achieve anything I put my mind to. Because once I put those headphones on… All I could hear was millions and millions of people reciting my lyrics. I was confident in my ability and i found happiness in creating. That keep me going. The love and support I’ve received along the way helped me so much as well. But, it was those lessons that I learned that kept locked in the studio always pushing myself to the next chapter. The next stage of my career. Don’t be afraid to fail, use those opportunities of growth to strengthen your skills. Your mentality can be a weapon to success, or weapon against yourself.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I take a step back and breakdown what’s plaguing me. I realized you’re the one who gives these negatives power. If you try to focus on everything out your reach your gonna feel overwhelmed. Taking everything day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, you can organize what immediately needs be taken care of and what can wait. Once you can distinguish the difference between those needs and wants, the controllable and uncontrollable. You’ll open a new prospective of peace that you can only worry about the now. Because, if your foundation in the present isn’t secure.. your foundation for the future won’t hold together any better. Take your me time seriously.
