Meet LaToya Jane

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful LaToya Jane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with LaToya below.

LaToya, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethics came from my Grandparents , and my parents

My family worked from back home Jamaica and worked while they were here
They got a career in their field and stayed dedicated towards their careers
Bought everything they needed and paved the way for the next generations to follow their lead in order to be successful
I implemented that generational strategy and now have taught my children

In life you have to put in work and you can’t skip the struggle it’s just part of life
So you must maintain your mental health because it might change along the way

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Singer/Songwriter and Motivational Speaker I speak and perform in schools, churches, jails, community centres about you’re staying out of gangs because you i used to be a gang leader in Jane and finch. I went thru a lot of tribulations but eventually better ways to deal with challenges which led me to grow in life and allowed me to work in the community for some of the top black organizations
I recently decided to focus on my music career and Motivational speaking because it had alot more impact in our culture

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1.PUNCTUALITY 2. BOUNDARIES
3. RESPECT

Be early for everything it’s just a very good practice

Announce your boundaries and never feel afraid to do it everyone will be in the same page once they are greeted with the outline of your boundaries

Work relationships are not necessarily friendships
But that has to be highlighted

Respect should always be mutual there is no excuse for rudeness or gossip

I actually follow these laws lol

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My mom

She has been my cheerleader, mentor, teacher, and spiritual mother and it’s just that motherly love that i need right now
