We recently connected with Lauren Wenzell and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose through my healing journey. In my previous profession I was a behavior therapist that worked with the neurodivergent population for over 10 years. While that career was fulfilling and expanded my awareness on individual needs, it wasn’t what I felt my soul was meant to be doing. I have so much gratitude for that period of my life, and it made me specialized in what I do now. When the pandemic hit, I felt that something inside of me was telling me to take a leap of faith and find my true purpose. As I left a career where I was comfortable, knew a lot, and honestly really burnt out most of the time, I was beyond terrified. But you know when you just know something, and you can’t explain how? Yeah, that’s your intuition, inner knowing, etc. talking to you. It’s what the mind can’t comprehend at the moment. And to be honest, I had been ignoring this feeling and tug for years prior.
I had previously gotten into transformational work and healing in 2013 and took many baby steps, slips, falls, and pauses along the way. In 2020 it was time for me to start sharing what I knew, to choose courage instead of insecurity of “not knowing enough,” and continue to grow with this choice. Everything that had helped me (and continues to), I want to share with others. When I found out who I truly was from a soul and energetic level (using the Akashic Records, Human Design, and understanding my past traumas and limiting beliefs), I had a pathway to know my Truth. I feel like everyone deserves that knowledge. To know what is true for them, what they are naturally talented and gifted in, and what is NOT correct for them. It is just as powerful to understand who you are NOT and knowing who you truly are.
Healing is my purpose, sharing is my purpose, being is my purpose, all the small things are so purposeful that we get lost in the big dreams. While it is great to have them and envision for a bigger and brighter future, smiling at a stranger who may be having a crappy day, calling a friend you haven’t talked to in a while to remind them you love and miss them, thanking nature for its beauty… you can find purpose in ANYTHING and that is the message I would like to share so others can find their purpose and motivation to be their true, authentic, free selves.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a life coach that is a Master Teacher in Human Design, which I cannot stop learning about!! I have been studying Human Design for over 5 years now and have “taken on the experiment” as they call it, to live my design. In Human Design I am a Mental Projector (only about 2-3% of the population is), which is a pretty rare design (as each design is individual and unique!). What that means is that I am designed to provide my unique insight and guidance for others, when recognized and invited. In Human Design we get to follow our strategy and inner authority. So, for me, for my energy and gifts to really turn on and support someone else, I get to be recognized in what the other sees in me, invited to share (being an insight or working together) and then I get to follow my inner authority (how I make decisions and agree or say no to the invitation). Taking on the experiment has radically shifted my life and has healed a lot of bitterness of my past (which is the not-self theme of a projector). There are 4 other types that someone can be, and each person can look up their chart for free inputting their birth information on Human Design websites that offer free chart readings.
Providing Human Design readings for my clients as well as Akashic Record readings, which look up their soul and past-life information, has been nothing short of life changing. I can’t tell you how much this information changes people’s lives and the level of healing it provides. With Human Design there are so many layers to what it can give someone to the information of all the ways we can be being influenced and conditioned in stress, what that exactly looks like, and how to transcend it. It provides information on what can support better sleep, going into the Dream Rave- yes you have a specific design when you dream!!- and your designed health system. Human Design is revolutionary, and the more people learn their design, the more we can accept our individuality as a template to reference to, and not what society and standards try to make us feel like we need to fit into.
Right now, I am launching a podcast, Auric Sleuths, with my fellow Human Design classmate and friend, Vicki MacHale. We go into different dimensions of topics using Human Design, busting outdated paradigms, and provide questions for our audience to contemplate to support a new perspective. You can check it out on YouTube and Spotify! Out July 25th! I work privately with 1:1 coaching with my clients, offer readings- Human Design, Dream Rave, Akashic Records, and now expanding to support businesses incorporating their Human Design, which is called BG5. I just did a reading for a large Yoga Studio in Santa Clarita, California-Yoga Yoga (which is a phenomenal yoga studio if you are in the area, I highly recommend checking it out!!) and they were blown away! Seeing how things shift when you are in a group, relationship, business, family, etc. and referencing Human Design, things just make more sense, and we don’t have to go into a story or take things personally. It really is energetics! So why not see what you get to lean into naturally and let go of all the rest??
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey thus far was first, my life experiences. You can learn and study a skill, but it is a whole other level when you have lived through something and can be able to relate to others in that way. I have lived through so much, as most of us have, and through the healing of the past it is my empathy, compassion, and presence that are some of my favorite qualities. I don’t think that is something you can teach someone; it comes from within and is felt from the other. Second, was finding trusted mentors to guide me and I could learn from. I found some along the way who taught me what I didn’t align with and that was just as important. It seems like life likes to offer different perspectives to see what supports us. What might work for someone else, might not work for you and that is OKAY! We don’t need to judge; it is all about what resonates with you inside. And third was coming to terms with all my thoughts. The good and the bad… everything. It is a daily practice that I get to meet myself and see what I am making up that is limiting me, and what am I not seeing in this moment that is supporting me and my highest good. Meditation saves me every day.
I would suggest to anyone who is starting something new, whether that is a career, healing, a new destination, etc. is to lean into what life has taught you thus far. Even in the darkest of times, what was the lesson that was there for you? What did it teach you that no one else could? And how can you be of service to others from this place? What makes you different? What is your uniqueness? Don’t try to “fit in.” There is a difference between fitting in and feeling like you belong. When we try to fit in, we abandon our true selves, but when we feel like we belong, we are accepted as we are completely. It’s okay to let go of what might not serve you anymore or bring happiness. We are always changing, and change is good! How can you lean into more of that and step into what you are ready to? Find mentors you resonate and feel safe with, and lean as much into your self-care (meditation, what you’re passionate about, expanding in your communication skills, etc.) as if your life depends on it, because it does.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My relationship with my parents has been a journey to where I am at today. The ego will blame till it is blue in the face and keep us separate, so it can stay in its story. At times we can feel so justified in our hurt and pain, what we didn’t receive and what everyone else did wrong. Through my journey as I have faced my ego continuously and have seen the truth more and more, the most impactful thing my parents did for me was give me the gift of not labeling me or putting me into a box. I was born with tight muscles in my legs that effected my gait. I was given a diagnosis and doctors told my parents this and that, but without really much support of what they really needed, which was reassurance and presence. For whatever reason, my parents chose not to tell me my diagnosis, they let me be just like every other child. I was no different and any less capable than anyone next to me, even if other people said otherwise, they didn’t.
When I was in my early 20’s I found out my diagnosis, which was very earth shattering at that time, and I had to come to terms with all the emotions that came up with it. But as I practice full acceptance of myself, honor the body I came in, celebrate all of our differences, and what we get to continue to love, I see that my parents believed in me so much and saw past anything that could have made me feel that I was attached to this “limitation.” I understand diagnosis help understand what someone may be going through, that there can be prevention and treatment to support in what causes someone pain and I am all for that. If there are things we come into this world with, that we are born differently as, show up as that is a part of us for whatever reason… it is the limitation we put on it that causes the suffering, not what it actually is, which is what is it. Healing and transformation are acts of miracles that doctors and logic can’t explain. Love and acceptance allows us to be who we are and labels sort of melt away in that space. I hope that by people embracing all of themselves, the “good” and the “bad” they can see just how amazing, how unique, and without mistake they were created to be. That is why we are here, right?
