Meet LD

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LD a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

LD, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed confidence and self-esteem from staying true to myself no matter who I am around. As an artist, it is very important that you are your biggest supporter because if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an artist from Detroit, Michigan. I have been doing music full time for two years. My newest project, Ball in my Hands is something that is very important to me. As you get older and make moves, more responsibilities come with it and being ready is very critical. The best thing about being an artist is that you can make it whatever you want it to be. For myself, my goal and vision is to inspire others to always rise up no matter what the situation is. I was always told that God puts you through things because he knows you can get through and handle it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three things that helped me throughout this journey was writing poetry as a kid, being an athlete, and going through daily life battles. Ever since the 3rd grade, poetry is something that I always found to be enjoyable. This made the transition of figuring out what to say way easier. Being an athlete helped because I was always in the gym with efforts to perfect my craft. Once I stopped doing that, it transitioned to me always being in the studio figuring out what works best. The final one, life battles helped because with every situation, some type of inspiration can be found. This also taught me to slow down, and evaluate.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth has definitely been me getting out my comfort zone to network and connect with different people. Truthfully I am introverted and breaking that was a challenge for me. Something that helped with this was gaining more confidence.
