Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Leah Helin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Leah, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
The world and universe are so grand and vast its a daily reminder that problems are small in the grand scheme of life. So why not be positive? Life is too short and the world is too large to dwell on any problem too long.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Dr. Leah Helin was always a driven athlete whose goals off the field were to provide care to help people thrive in life. She originally was headed toward the Dental and Orthodontics route. En route to Dental School, the physical size constraints of only working in the mouth became dispiriting (no offense to my DDS/DMD colleagues). She threw an “Omaha” and ended up complete her Doctorate of Chiropractic with an emphasis in Sports and Active care in Northern California.
Trickling down the beautiful California coastline, Dr. Helin found herself in coastal Encinitas, where she eventually established Helin Health and Chiropractic and has been for almost 10 years now. Dr. Helin’s movement-centered approach in chiropractic care includes customized treatments specific to the needs of the patient and how to keep them active. Her wide scope of skills include: extensive chiropractic training in Diversified, Gonstead, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Thompson Drop, Activator, Graston/FAKTR, Cupping, Sacral Occipital and Cranial Technique, as well as extremity adjusting. In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Helin is certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Fascial Movement Taping (RockTape FMT), Applied Kinesiology, and the Activator Method.
Dr. Helins goal is to provide the highest of athlete, movement style care to the everyday person.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My three most important skills; ability to communicate and educate as well as the high energy outlook surrounding all treatments.
If you are just starting out and are hoping to get better at educating, energy and communicating just keep on practicing. Honest trial and error will provide such an amazing foundation, each step after will provide you with more knowledge and skill to help others.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The number one challenge I am finding is being able to acquire and work through all the new research, techniques and medical advancements and implementing/teaching them efficiently for every clients need.
