Meet LeJuane El’Ja” Bowens”

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LeJuane “El’Ja” Bowens. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

LeJuane “El’Ja”, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Very interesting story. A friend of mind told me that we were to have a business meeting. Once we arrived to the venue, it was me, him, and two others. Turned out that meeting was an intervention for me because I began to let success at the time go to my head. From that moment own, I had to remember my purpose of being an artist because it has always been to create and inspire. Not to become popular. Hence why I always say purpose over popularity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a poet, writer, spoken word artist, host, workshop facilitator, motivational speaker, and so much more. I also specialize in event consulting, creative coaching, and panelist at numerous comiccons across the country. A lot of my work stems from being a big kid at heart who just loves art, and creativity when it’s in a free and safe space to enact on those feelings and actions. I could go into a lot more of what I do, but it’s just best to go to the website lol

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most impactful things that has guided me are to always remain humble, build your vision because no one will do it for you, and always remember that the world is big enough for everyone to eat. The only advice I can give at this time for anyone that is looking to develop or improve would be to expect failure. That way, you learn from it and build to become better because of it.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Easy. I would like to partner/collaborate with Better Made Potato Chips and Uno Card Games. Better Made because I was born in Detroit and I will stand on my hill saying that Better Made is the best potato chips ever made. And UNO because I own just about 40 different versions of UNO so it’s only right that they let me collab with them and produce a poem or something lol.
