We recently connected with Leslie Margarita Sotelo and have shared our conversation below.
Leslie Margarita, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I chose the name Resilient Vow LLC before going full time into a business as a commitment to myself that no matter what happened I would always bounce back. Little did I know that a few months after going full time my husband would be diagnosed with cancer and then a year after that a worldwide pandemic.
My resilience comes from my knowledge that God always has my back and when I feel weak He is my strength.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My business is about legacy, history and capturing the beginning of strong resilient marriages. My goal is to create a time capsule for couples to always be able to look back to and remember their epic celebration but most importantly why they said “I do”.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As an introvert I had to overcome my fear of people after I realized that the only way I was going to grow my business would be through connections and collaborations. This is absolutely the most important thing for anyone who is starting out in the wedding industry.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The book of Proverbs is my favorite and I could write a book about all I’m learning but one nugget I’ll share is this. The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit. Being patient and consistent even when you don’t see results is what will bring the success. One of my favorite verses is “Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.” Ecclesiastes 11:6
