Meet Lettie Fundane’t

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lettie Fundane’t. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lettie below.

Lettie, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I believe I developed resilience from having to overcome a disability most of my life. I contracted Spinal meningitis as a young girl. Due to the high fever I lost hearing in both of my ears. I have worn hearing aids since I was 2. It can be challenging to function in a world when you struggle to hear. Through the challenges of growing up, going to school and making friends, I learned to keep pressing forward and not to tear myself down when my hearing loss makes things difficult. This was a learned skill that my disability taught me. If you yourself struggle with a disability or have a kiddo that is trying to figure out life while dealing with a disability of some kind, I just encourage you to keep finding tools for your tool kit. Meaning that you can find systems and tricks that help you through the struggle. Identify what is frustrating and research or brainstorm some ideas and then try them out. Bottom line, “don’t give up.” and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I started Organized by Lettie 18 years ago as a stay at home mom. I loved organizing my own home and helping friends too and with some encouragement I stepped out and started sharing my gift with others. My business has grown by leaps and bounds in the past few years and so I have added 8 team members. They work as contract employees and the coolest thing is that most of them own their own businesses on the side while working on my team. I have stepped back into full time teaching and so my amazing team members who have been trained in the Organized by Lettie Way are leading the charge to help my clients Organize their Stuff and Simplify their Lives.

The Organized by Lettie Way is non-judgemental organizing help. We specialize in helping you clear out the clutter and creating systems that help you keep it organized. You can work with an organizer one on one or you can have a team come in and get it done for you. We just did a whole apartment move-in with three organizers in 6 hours. Amazing!!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
To help my business grow and keep things organized, I have put lots of organizing systems in place to keep thing running without me having to do much. I hired a Virtual Assistant, I use mailchimp to keep my clients up to date and Square for booking/payment/team management. I had to try lots of different things to land on the one that worked the best for my business. I also surround myself with a group of like-minded individuals. I send them my ideas and ask them for feedback, and then I do the same for them. So to sum it up, I recommend setting up organized systems to manage your business, don’t be afraid to try new things and surround yourself with people who are doing the same thing.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
These three people have had the biggest impact on my qualities, and knowledge to be successful. God and my Faith have been the most important thing in my life for overcoming all the challenges that I have faced with my disability and building my business. My parents who raised me without treating me different because of my hearing loss but also being there for me to help me find a solution when I was struggling. Lastly, my husband who loves me with all my quirks and is always ready to share his business knowledge with me and offer 100% of his support toward my goals. If you are not surrounded by people that want to see you successful, you need to go find at least one person to be your cheerleader. I’m here for you if you need it.
