Meet Lillani Moran

We were lucky to catch up with Lillani Moran recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lillani, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
Oh self-care. Its the buzz word for the moment but oh so needed. For me I have to swirl my energy around to mentally soothe myself. Exercise for self-care is an essential cornerstone of my daily routine. Beyond physical benefits, it quiets my mind, just enough, to be in a meditative state. Its like I embark on a journey that transcends the mundane, tapping into my own innate creativity.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a creative content video creator with over 10 years of professional marketing and video production experience. I have produced, written, and edited content online and offline for E!, Style Network, Esquire Network, Meta and Playboy TV. I have a passion for creating content, editing, and remixing.

Also, for the past 15 years I have been djing in Los Angeles, New York, Guatemala, and now Mexico City. My friend Tiara Darnell, owner of the first blacked owned, soul-food restaurant in Mexico City, and I recently started throwing a party called “House House” – an ode to the sweaty, semi-intimate house parties of the 90’s. Curating unique spaces for like minded folks has been another sort of hobby for me. I enjoy making space instead of asking for it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I have the willingness to learn, the willingness to fail, and the willingness to try again.

I feel anything I say here will be cliche:

“Failure is a lesson in disguise”
“Failure is a stepping stone to success”
“Every failure brings us closer to achieving greatness.”

I dont know about all of that, Im just tenacious. But I do know that the odds are in my favor: the more times I do something the more likely i’ll be good at it… eventually.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes! I live for a functioning colab! House House is known for its vibrant atmosphere, featuring DJ sets that blend House music and its diverse variations.

We are looking to make “House House” a premier day-time event for House Heads and renowned, world based House music djs.
