Meet Lillian Iacino

We recently connected with Lillian Iacino and have shared our conversation below.

Lillian, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I don’t think you ever overcome imposter syndrome, it is something that comes and goes but you just have to learn how to manage it. It absolutely can get the best of you at times! I always try to bring myself back into the present moment and physically write down facts instead of only believing the thoughts in my head, There will be many people around you excelling in your same career/industry but it’s important you stay in your own lane and nurture what you have built and continue building!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At Bellissima we are focused on event ready treatments specializing in brows, lash lifts and skin treatments that require minimal downtime. Bellissima is a modern beauty bar that puts an emphasis on nurturing and enhancing your natural beauty. We sell a variety of skin, wellness and home products as well. This past year we expanded into our first brick and mortar on South Pearl St. in Denver and we also now have three service providers. At the moment we are enjoying our new home and working on some new treatments that we know you will love. When you need some self care, we will be here to take care of you and help you feel your best after every appointment!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back I would say that discipline, positivity and focus were three qualities that were those most impactful on my journey as a small business owner thus far. It can be easy to deviate from your goals, feel burnt out and lose sight of where you want to end up but those three qualities help make the impossible feel possible!

When you want to give up or quit when you are starting or running your own business just remember why you started and what made you want to be on your journey in the first place. You will never regret being disciplined and focused! It will pay off and you have to remember to have some fun while on your journey as well!

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
I think the biggest challenge I am currently facing is separating working on the business and working in the business. I currently am still working as a service provider taking clients almost 30 hours a week which is a lot when there are other tasks and projects that need tending to on a day to day basis. I am currently trying to balance those roles by switching up my schedule, hiring those who are skilled in areas I may not be and also implementing systems to help the business run more efficiently.
