We were lucky to catch up with Lina Rincon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lina, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
“In the tapestry of life, I’ve always woven the threads of my journey with the unwavering belief that ‘obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal.’ This mantra is my guiding light, a beacon that keeps my optimism resilient even in the face of challenges.
Maintaining optimism isn’t a simple feat; it requires a conscious effort to stay focused on the aspirations that drive us. Life often presents detours and distractions that threaten to sway our positivity. Yet, I find solace in the simple act of centering myself, redirecting my gaze towards the goals I’ve set.
Living with optimism isn’t about denying the existence of difficulties; it’s about acknowledging them without letting them overshadow the brilliance of our aspirations. Challenges may be daunting, but they are not the destination. They are the landscapes we navigate on the way to our dreams.
Optimism, for me, is a continuous journey back to the core of my ambitions. It’s a commitment to keep my eyes on the prize, to see beyond the temporary roadblocks and envision the fulfillment of my goals. In this perspective, every obstacle becomes a stepping stone, and every setback becomes a lesson.
So, I choose to embrace the challenges, knowing that they are not the end but a part of the narrative. The journey towards my goals is where my optimism finds its strength, and in staying true to this belief, I discover a reservoir of resilience that sustains me through life’s twists and turns.”

Lina, a Colombian-American artist, embarked on her artistic journey that transcends borders. Her story begins in 1999 when she immigrated to the U.S., initially settling in Florida. Over the years, she has called Texas home and, most recently, Sarasota, Florida, where she realized her dream by establishing her own art gallery and studio.
Armed with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Universidad Autonoma del Caribe and a certification in Art Instruction from Fundacion Universitaria Bellas Artes, both in Colombia, Lina laid the foundation for her creative pursuits. Additionally, she holds a certification in Digital Photography from the University of South Florida. Complementing her formal education, Lina has actively sought knowledge through various classes and seminars, honing her skills and enriching her artistic perspective.
The decision to return to Florida was not taken lightly, but Lina is no stranger to challenges. A tenacious spirit, she approached this chapter with determination, fully aware that the path would be demanding. Her resilience and hard work paid off as she spent three transformative years in Sarasota. Here, she not only deepened her artistic prowess but also forged connections with remarkable individuals and fellow artists.
Lina’s growth extended beyond the canvas; she evolved into a savvy businessperson, navigating the intricacies of the art world. In 2023, a pivotal year for her, she unveiled a groundbreaking collection of contemporary and pop art that captivated audiences. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge stand out as profoundly impactful:

Embracing a spirit of collaboration, particularly with fellow artists, has not only created a supportive community but has also served as a foundation for personal and professional growth. Being kind not only fosters positive relationships but also contributes to a collaborative atmosphere where shared creativity flourishes.
Generosity in Sharing Knowledge: An essential aspect of my journey has been the willingness to share knowledge and experiences with other artists. Serving as an example and helping peers navigate their own artistic paths has not only enriched the artistic community but has also expanded my own understanding. Openly sharing techniques, insights, and lessons learned has created a reciprocal environment where creativity thrives collectively.
Embracing Critique and Continuous Learning: Another pivotal aspect has been my openness to critique and continuous learning. Actively listening to constructive feedback, whether positive or challenging, has propelled my artistic evolution. Embracing a mindset of constant improvement and adaptability has allowed me to refine my techniques, explore new styles, and stay relevant in the ever-evolving landscape of the art world.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
“Undoubtedly, the most influential figures in my life have been my family. Through every challenge and triumph, their unwavering support has been the bedrock of my journey. They stood by me in moments of uncertainty, offering encouragement and belief when I needed it most. Among them, my daughter Maria Jose has played an unparalleled role, becoming a source of strength, love, and friendship during the most difficult chapters of my life. Without her, life doesn’t just lack meaning; it loses its very essence.”
In navigating the intricate tapestry of my career, my current relationship has emerged as a cornerstone. Their steadfast support and encouragement have been instrumental in shaping my artistic path.
