We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lindsey Aston . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lindsey below.
Lindsey , so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the founder & CEO of Little Picnic Company, LLC. We specialize in all things charcuterie, including boxes, boards, cups, grazing tables & more. I even offer private charcuterie workshops, a 1-hour guided & interactive class where you make your very own charcuterie board like a pro! Grazing tables are perfect for events where you’re looking to feed 25 people or more. From baby showers, to corporate events to weddings – we love getting to be apart of our customers milestones. I’d love to make your next event a little cheesy! Send me an email [email protected] to book or check us out on Instagram (@littlepicnicsatx)
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think being “good” at social media came as a natural skill. When I first created my business page, I started with a few photos & a dream! I remember hitting my first 100 followers and feeling like I hit the jackpot. Social media can be a real tough universe to dissect, but I think it keeps me on my toes. I also think when I started, I had a little knack for marketing. I felt like I was good at staging the photos (for a rookie) and putting them in front of my target audience. However, I still have a lot to learn.
Another skill that has helped me is networking. I was NOT good at networking when I first started. Small talk was my nightmare and I never knew how to start or end. Over time, it became easier for me and you know what they say: “Your network is your net worth”
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I’m so happy this question was included because I recently read a book and not to be cheesey (see what I did there) but it really did change my life and outlook on entrepreneurship. It’s called “How to Win at the Sport of Business” by Mark Cuban. I was feeling desperate and I turned to books to comfort me in the struggles I was facing. I’m not a huge reader but I read that whole book in just a few hours. The things he said were so dead on relating to my life, it shocked me and I felt oddly, supported & not alone! Being a business owner can feel extremely lonely, that book helped me in ways I can’t explain. I feel like every business owner should read that book every quarter of the year to keep their mind sharp.
“In business, to be a success, you only have to be right once.”
