Meet Lindsey Smith

We were lucky to catch up with Lindsey Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I try to start every day full of optimism, potential for growth and change, and a positive outlook on immediate situations and people in my life. Optimism is something that has been an important part of who I am, ingrained in me from a very young age. When people around you are in a constant state of struggle, you have to remain positive to not fall into the trap of doubt, low self-esteem, and negativity. Giving people your optimism could impact their entire perspective for the better. Optimism for me means, always seeing the good in people or a situation, trusting we want what is best for each other, and spreading that optimism in others who may not believe those things. Remaining optimistic and knowing, no matter what you will “figure it out” has been the key to success and happiness in my life. I know life has got my back.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Education, creativity, and self expression have always piqued my interest. I love learning and creating, using my hands to make something special and unique. The more we expand our minds to new ideas and information, the more fuel we have to communicate our ideas and the unique perspective of our surroundings. As an outlet for creativity, love of human connection, and with help from many close friends, I founded Austin Glitter Bar. A mobile, self-contained Glitter Bar service. I think the glitter bar is special because it is a unique way to express your creativity with no rules or guidelines, and leaves every customer with a smile and sparkle on their face. We collaborate with each individual to create the perfect glitter *look.* Austin Glitter Bar has over 40 traditional and biodegradable glitter blends, aloe vera gel used as the glitter adhesive, sparkly disco decor we customize for each event and theme, and professional lighted makeup mirrors. We have experience providing glitter services at large scale music festivals, concerts, weddings, baby showers, corporate events, bachelorette parties, and pop-up markets around Austin, Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans. We recently launched a new website, www.austinglitterbar.com, which gives clients the opportunity to instantly book a Glitter Bar, with multiple options including the amount of people per event, number of Glitter Artists needed, timeframe of the event, and any special requests the client may have. We recently launched on The BACH app, an innovative bachelorette party planning tool you can download on your iPhone or Android. Our Glitter Bar and Champagne Service is listed as a top activity in Austin and Fredericksburg, TX. You can find our listing here, https://www.thebach.com/cities/austin-tx/experiences/byob-mobile-glitter-bar-champagne-service-with-glitter-art_503620f1-0b1b-4a09-a25b-8bb19183c9e7

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience, Persistence and Confidence have helped me on my journey. I have patience with myself learning about technology, design, social media, and creating steps towards improvement for my business every day. Something I have found helpful is asking for advice and critiques from those closest to me, professionals in marketing and social media. I know they will be honest and I gratefully listen to their ideas for improvement. I use patience when reaching out to potential clients, hoping they will be interested and having confidence knowing they will. Confidence and Persistence means truly faking it til you make it and never letting people see you sweat. Things don’t always go as planned, you have to move with confidence in yourself and your idea. It has gotten easier with time, making mistakes and learning how to do things differently. I have learned to go easy on myself. I have learned it’s ok to ask for help. I have learned I can’t do everything on my own, and that’s ok!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Austin Glitter Bar is always looking for growth and new collaborations. We are looking for venues interested in a weekly glitter bar pop-up paired with live music, wedding and event planners who can always come to Austin Glitter Bar for all glitter services, glitter services for editorials in magazines, advertising and personal brand development photos. We are also looking to work with non-profits to bring glitter services to fundraisers and galas. If someone would like to collaborate and bring some glitz to their event, they can contact me at lindsey@austinglitterbar.com or fill out the inquiry form at www.austinglitterbar.com.
