Meet Lisa Kindsvater

We were lucky to catch up with Lisa Kindsvater recently and have shared our conversation below.

Lisa, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
In my experience, my resilience draws deeply from the profound influence of my parents, the strength derived from my faith, and the invaluable lessons learned through some personal tragedies. These experiences have illuminated the importance of not sweating the small stuff and highlighted the importance of continuously moving forward with a positive attitude, and enjoying life in the moment. Life is short, and if you’re always saying I’ll be happy when XYZ happens, you’ll miss the great things happening in your life now.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
When I entered college, I had my heart set on becoming an interior designer, immersing myself in nearly a year and a half of graphic design courses. However, after careful reflection, I realized that my true calling lay elsewhere, leading me to pivot toward Business Management. Post-graduation, I embarked on a career in operational roles within the health and wellness sector, where I’ve dedicated the past decade of my professional life.

The onset of the pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, particularly within the healthcare industry, where the demands were exceptionally taxing. During this time, I had conversations with my lifelong friend, Janey Hawley, who had been navigating her own career change. As fate would have it, our discussions about joining forces culminated in the inception of Fat Bird Marketing. Shortly after Janey started the company, I eagerly jumped on board, seamlessly complementing her creative prowess with my analytical acumen in operations. Our partnership has flourished ever since. I am the Yin to her Yang, Janey is the creative sales brain, and I’m the analytical operations brain, and it works together very well! And what’s great is that I get to work with my best friend every day.

So little did I know, during college, what my graphic design experience and business degree would help me with down the road.
