Meet Lisa Morton

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lisa Morton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Lisa, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
Early in my career, I didn’t prioritize self-care. I was a “do everything at once” person, so learning to slow down to find time for myself was hard initially. Then, I struggled with my health and wellness during a low point in my life I discovered meditation. I began a mindfulness and meditation practice with simple, short, guided sessions. I then incorporated yoga into my routine and found it extremely helpful. Now, I include several self-care habits in my day to day. I can feel the difference that meditation and yoga give me when I’m working. Slowing down and focusing while really listening to my client allows me to be more present with them and approach each project or meeting with care and empathy. I’ve learned how to help my clients who are also struggling. I help them take deep breaths or find a little moment of peace. Working in your home can be stressful and bring out intense emotions. I love sharing the self-care practices that have always helped me with my clients!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a holistic Interior Designer and certified Feng Shui consultant. I love sharing this powerful approach with my clients. People are learning the importance of how their space can impact them. As this interest grows, a holistic approach will likely be the future of design. Covid taught us so much about our spaces as we spent more time at home. Some people rearranged for a home office, some decided it was time for a move, and some bought an extravagant amount of plants!

Next up for me is a podcast that I’ll be launching at the end of the month! I’ll be sharing easy-to-implement tips and information for your home.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I have a traditional interior design education which taught me the principles and elements of design, how to create technical drawings and a deep understanding of how textiles and finishes work together to enhance a space. Those are the basics of how I can help my clients create the space they need – by being able to talk through the technical aspects before we bring it together using the holistic approach.

A passion for continual learning has also been beneficial. As an entrepreneur, I know how much work goes into your business daily. I’ve been shifting my business to more online and virtual in recent years, and being excited about new ways and discovering the various facets of running an online business has been helpful.

I love having the connection I share with my clients. My work allows me to share their joys and support them during life’s struggles. I receive nearly all of my clients via word of mouth, as my clients appreciate my approach and care for them while we work on the project.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Many of my clients have a lot in common. Most are women looking for a change or are in the midst of one. My powerful work helps define your goals and catapult you toward them! Whether your goal is less stress, better sleep, a healthier lifestyle, or even transition through a new job, divorce, or loss of a family member. An ideal client for me is someone with an open heart, an open mind, and a goal they want to achieve!
