We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lisa Nicole a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I make sure I create something every single day. I make sure I post daily on one of my platforms. My hobbies have become my business. I am a photographer and content creator. And I also do hair even though I’m not a licensed stylist.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have expanded my business to political content creation this past year. I work with Governor Josh Shapiro’s creator team. I did an Instagram Live interview with Governor Shapiro about the Childcare Tax Credit. I also worked with Kamala for PA to help campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris. This was an amazing experience that taught me so much about politics. I was able to get to know politicians on a more personal level. I attended the Philly Juneteenth parade and took pictures of Representative Jasmine Crockett and had an opportunity to interview her. That video is viral on Tik Tok. I got a chance to meet & watch the Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton & State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, Kerry Washington, Shonda Rhimes, Barack & Michelle Obama, Gina Torres, Danai Gurira & many celebrities that worked with the campaign. I plan to continue working with politicians & celebrities that align with my values.
I will also be attending the upcoming NYFW 2025 as a photographer again. I’m super excited about returning a third time. Shooting runway has become my favorite niche. I will be working to build my photography business for 2025. My goal is to hire an assistant this year.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important qualities that affected my journey were perseverance, courage & creativity. Perseverance is needed to conquer social media. It is always changing and evolving. The algorithm is not your friend. You will not always be seen or appreciated for the work you show. You have to have the courage to continue with the confidence that your work is good enough. Creativity is needed to stay competitive in content creation. Especially when everything is based off of trends. I try to stay true to myself and show my original creativity. It’s risky because it’s not trendy. But, what’s life without some risk, no reward.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am looking to partner with more companies & brands and acquire photography contracts. My goal is to shoot more fashion runway shows. I would like to collaborate with designers, celebrities, and politicians that need help branding on social media. My goal is to have multiple streams of income.
