Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Logan McErlean. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Logan, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I would definitely say I get my resilience from my family, friends, and partner. I have seen everyone in my life go through so many trials and tribulations and they still make the best of this life that we have. I could not do it without them!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a tattooist who specializes in American Traditional and Neo Traditional tattoos. I think the most rewarding part of my job is taking the history of tattoos and being able to create them to fit into todays age. To be able to look back on these pieces created years ago and see them evolve is amazing to me. We definitely have to thank these tattooists for paving the way. I will continue to honor those artists through my art and let history live on!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think always having a love for history, art, and knowledge has always kept me curious. Being curious about anything in life opens so many possibilities. Being able to listen to generations before myself, their stories, has helped me learn so much. If I could give any advice to anyone starting their journey in the tattooing industry is to listen to what people are truly saying, when you listen you really do learn. Be kind, always. It’s so intimidating for people who are not familiar with tattoo shops, make them them feel comfortable! Tattoos are already nerve racking enough!
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents have ever done for me is support me with anything I have wanted to do with my life. At 4 years old I wanted to play softball. Eventually went to traveling on a select team and no matter what they made it happen. I went through a period where I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be a Radiologist or a Graphic and Web designer, they made sure I got through school. Fast forward to my early stages of my apprenticeship, they surprised me with my first machine. Even when they struggled they made sure that I knew they were there 100%. I couldn’t be more grateful to have their support!
