Meet Lord Goldie

We recently connected with Lord Goldie and have shared our conversation below.

Lord , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
All of the people that raised me. From my parents to grandparents. We know faith without works is dead. So we keep pushing no matter what.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I started off as a hip hop artists born and raised in Nashville, TN. As I kept growing in my career, I added audio engineering, producing, songwriting and managing into my career on top of being on top of networking. I also have thrown events with many promoters around the city. Promoting everyone from local talent to big wigs like Future. Right now my homeboy Foundation Mecca and I have formed the Sunday Funday crew after our biggest song to date “Sunday Funday”. We throw cyphers once a month and we even have different crews doing different cyphers at different venues once a month as well. It’s all leading up to a City Wide Cypher celebrating the 50 years in hip hop in September. Foundation and I are also wrapping up a heal hop project that we’re dropping later this year!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistency, being open to learning new things & the hustle. Doesn’t matter what you are doing, keep going. Nothing worth having is easy. You’ll be thankful for all you’ve learned and achieved.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Developing the leader in you by John C. Maxwell. I’ve always knew how to boss up but I had trouble leading and teaching others. And when you have purpose, you have to have the will to learn and do everything you can to build in your position. Rather you’re building people, yourself or an extensive plan. If you’re a natural born leader, this book is for you.
