Lori, thank you so much for joining us today and appreciate you talking about a sensitive topic. It’s unfortunately relevant to so many in the community as layoffs have been on the rise recently, and so we’d appreciate hearing your story and how you overcame being let go?
When I was let go from my job in the medical field due to refusing the COVID vaccine, I knew I had to find a new path. It was a challenging and uncertain time, but I leaned on God for guidance and strength. While searching for opportunities, I came across a TikTok video about virtual assistants, and it sparked an idea. With support from my sister, I launched Helping Handler by attending networking events and finding my own clients.
This journey has had its ups and downs, but I’ve grown so much through it. I’ve learned the importance of faith, perseverance, and being open to new opportunities. Looking back, I can see how God used this transition to lead me to a career that allows me to serve others and thrive in ways I never imagined.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the owner of Helping Handler, a faith-driven Virtual Assistant business where I help solopreneurs and small business owners get organized, streamline processes, and save time with the right tools like CRMs. I also offer customer support (no cold calling), administrative work, and social media management. Beyond that, I provide clean products to help solopreneurs stay energized and focused, along with clean skincare and makeup to help them shine with confidence as the face of their business.
What’s most exciting about my work is the opportunity to truly serve others by helping them grow their businesses while easing their workload. It’s incredibly rewarding to see my clients achieve their goals with the systems and support I provide.
Right now, I’m thrilled to be expanding my offerings, including clean beauty and wellness products that align with my mission to help others succeed in all areas of their lives. My faith is at the center of everything I do, and I want my work to reflect God’s purpose and love in serving others.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are faith, perseverance, and adaptability. Faith has been my foundation, guiding me through uncertainty and helping me trust that God has a plan. Perseverance has allowed me to push through challenges, like transitioning from the medical field to running my own business, even when the path wasn’t clear. Adaptability has helped me learn new skills, embrace networking, and adjust to the needs of my clients.
For those just starting their journey, my advice is to prioritize faith—it will help you stay focused and calm in tough times. Build perseverance by staying committed to your goals and embracing challenges as opportunities to grow. Finally, develop adaptability by staying open to learning and being willing to step outside your comfort zone. These qualities will not only help you grow but also allow you to navigate your journey with purpose and resilience.
