We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lori Peterson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lori below.
Lori, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I come from a long line of hard workers. My mom and dad , grandparents, aunt, uncles, ect. did not mind being in the trenches getting their hands dirty. Watching them time and again put forth effort and seeing the results inspired me.. I come from a family of “doers” not talkers.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a fine artist. I paint daily and I get inspiration from viewing other’s work as well. This year I was honored to be on the WHQR panel that juries work in their gallery.
Art is more than just painting.. I like to get out to the Fourth Friday’s and get involved in the back end of the process.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
.1. Never stop learning about your craft or your business. 2. Always understand someone knows more than you about your business. These are your mentors.
.3. Success is rarely overnight.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Drawing From the Right Side of the Brain. It taught me how to see and how to draw..
It helped me develop my style as an artist.
