We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Madi Lindsey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Madi, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
That’s a good question! I have learned on how to be effective/successful from my mom, my step-dad and all of the people I’ve looked up to/supported my whole life. Including some recently as well, some of those people include – Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Mark Ambor, Alisha Marie and so many others.
I have an awesome support group of people around me who want to see me successful. I think also having short and long-term goals especially being so creative and inspired all the time helps a ton.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the founder of a creative agency called Iced Latte Media. ILM offers services to the music industry, content creators/influencers and brands. I feel so excited to connect and explore the world of my favorite creatives and brands, I want to know what happens behind the scenes and help everyone with their goals in anyway that I can!
I am currently working on getting a podcast and a website set up soon, I am only on social media as of right now. Everything will be under Iced Latte Media!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think being very persistent, sticking with who/what I support and knowing that I did with who I worked with in the past. I think just stick with it even when it gets hard, definitely have another source of income as you are starting out to get you by as you get started!
