Meet Maggi Quinn

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Maggi Quinn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Maggi , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Purpose is a personal and evolving concept that often intertwines with various aspects of life. For me, purpose can be defined as the guiding force that gives meaning and direction to my actions and choices, in both my personal and work life. It is a dynamic journey of self-discovery and alignment with what truly matters.

Family plays a pivotal role in shaping my sense of purpose. In particular, my two kids, Millie and Campbell, are the driving force behind many of my decisions. Their well-being and future aspirations serve as a constant source of inspiration, influencing the trajectory of my career. Nurturing their growth and providing them with opportunities to thrive has become a central pillar of my purpose.

Professionally, my purpose finds expression in the vibrant and passionate all-female team at Intrepid, where I am fortunate to be a part of something greater than myself. Working alongside talented and driven women who share a common vision creates a sense of community and collective purpose. Together, we strive to make a meaningful impact in our clients’ lives, fostering an environment that celebrates diversity and empowers women to excel.

At heart, my purpose is an intricate tapestry woven from the threads of family, friends, career, and collaboration with a remarkable team. It is a energetic force that continues to evolve, guided by the values and aspirations that resonate most deeply within me. As I navigate the complexities of life, I find purpose in the meaningful connections and contributions that shape my journey and leave a lasting impact on those around me.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My career is a huge part of my life but outside of that, I love spending time with my family – I have 2 kids, Millie (5) and Campbell (3). I have recently loved getting back into an old passion, tennis. I enjoy having a glass of wine with my girlfriends and have had quite the travel bug as of late. I am a die-hard Swiftie which was especially fun in 2023, made even more fun being able to introduce my daughter, Millie into the world of “Swifties”. As an Auburn graduate, I also love the Auburn tigers, which in years like this past football season make it tough – even still, WDE.

Speaking of, right out of Auburn, I kind of fell into the insurance and benefits consulting scene at Intrepid. It was a bit of luck, and I will forever be grateful to Liz Frayer for taking a chance on me. Intrepid, the company I proudly call home, is more than just a workplace. It’s a hub of innovation and creativity, a space where we craft solutions that redefine the landscape of insurance and benefits. Our team is driven by a shared commitment to making a meaningful impact on both employers and employees alike. What sets Intrepid apart is our dedication to offering creative and tailored solutions. We understand that the needs of employers and their workforce are diverse and ever-changing, so we approach our work with a mindset that embraces adaptability and originality. The work we do at Intrepid goes beyond the traditional boundaries of our industry. It’s about empowering businesses and individuals, enhancing their well-being, and contributing to their success. As I reflect on my time here, I am genuinely excited about the future possibilities and the continued positive impact we can make for our clients and their employees.

As you can probably tell – Intrepid is a big part of who I am. It is important to me for my kids to see the passion I have for many things in life but among those is my career. Millie even says she wants to work at Intrepid someday, which makes me so proud!

I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey thus far – both personally and professionally. Thankful and grateful for it all.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three impactful qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that stand out are:

Continuous Learning: The ability and willingness to continuously learn and adapt have been crucial. Staying curious, being open to new information, and actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge has been instrumental in progressing.

Advice: Embrace a growth mindset. Read widely, engage in discussions, and always look for opportunities to learn, regardless of the source or format. Be open to feedback and seek constructive criticism to grow. Practice active listening to understand others better.

Resilience and Perseverance: Overcoming challenges, setbacks, and failures has been pivotal. Having the resilience to bounce back, staying persistent in pursuing goals despite obstacles, and learning from failures has been fundamental to progress.

For those early in their journey:

Be Open-Minded: Embrace diverse perspectives and remain open to new ideas and experiences. This fosters a broader understanding and facilitates growth.

Build a Strong Network: Surround yourself with supportive individuals, mentors, and peers who can offer guidance, advice, and encouragement.

Take Initiative: Actively seek opportunities for growth and development. Don’t wait for things to happen—take initiative and make them happen.

Learn from Failures: Understand that failures are stepping stones to success. Analyze them, learn from them, and use those lessons to propel yourself forward.

Develop a Growth Mindset: Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Cultivate resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude toward continuous improvement.

Remember, everyone’s journey is unique. Stay focused on your goals, be adaptable, and enjoy the process of learning and growing along the way.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Several individuals have contributed significantly to my growth and development in overcoming challenges and building essential skills. Mentors, colleagues, and even friends have all played crucial roles in different ways.

Liz Frayer, has always been my mentor and has been instrumental in providing guidance, sharing experiences, and offering invaluable advice. Her wisdom and willingness to share past lessons learned have helped me navigate challenges and make informed decisions. There is no chance that I would be where I am today without her advice, guidance and constant support and belief in me.

Colleagues and peers have been invaluable in fostering collaboration, providing different perspectives, and offering support during challenging times. Their diverse experiences and expertise have often broadened my understanding and encouraged me to think differently.

Additionally, friends and family have played a crucial role by offering unwavering support, encouragement, and understanding. Their belief in my abilities has been a constant source of motivation.

Ultimately, it’s the collective influence of these individuals that has contributed to my growth. Each person has offered something unique, whether it’s guidance, knowledge, support, or inspiration. Their collective impact has helped shape my journey and provided the foundation for success.
