Malik, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I love this question. It truly challenges me to look within and ask myself if I had overcame imposter syndrome. I quickly asserted myself, I have because I said I had. At that moment it also answered the question, I overcame imposter syndrome because I declared to myself without a shadow of a doubt I am what I say I am, needing no outside validation and letting no outside factor alter my sense of confidence; and actions of the person I said I was kept following, almost automatically. If I am so strong to believe it, I am who I say I am.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
On the surface, I am the chief executive officer for Turnkey Locating, one of the fastest-growing apartment locating services. which is a fancy way of saying I oversee all the operations that ensure continuous growth between agents, clients, and contracted partners. Behind all that I am everyone’s Luxstie. Luxstie means your bestie for all things luxury, rather that’s my celebrity clients as they shop for their luxury apartments or my TikTok community who watch my content to be inspired by the life they know they deserve, and I let them know they deserve it and it’s possible.
We recently launched a podcast after being consistently requested by my Luxsties, you can look out for the Rental Report in June of 2023 where we talk all things apartments, roommates, approvals, safety, and all things rental.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
People skills – No matter where you go in life, if you can influence you can have your way. Smile more, listen more. Selling skills – The highest-paid careers require you to be able to consistently update and improve your sales skills, the earlier you start the more time you have to improve. Find a job that offers commission early on, and take all the training they offer.
Forgiveness – We are all humans, you live a happier life understanding people will let you down and that’s not the end of the world, it quite actually is normal. Be surprised when someone does not let you down. Start with forgiving yourself and you naturally start to forgive others.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My mom forced me into real estate school, 3 years later I am one of the most powerful faces in real estate. Thank you, mom. Mama Luxstie. She always wanted to provide me with the best luxury life regardless of what her budget would allow.
