Meet Marci Lundy, DOM

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marci Lundy, DOM. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Marci, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Oooh. This is so, so real.

So, here is the deal,

If there’s one thing I’ve never struggled with, it’s confidence. In phases of my younger life, that confidence, and at times, over-confidence got me into a bit of trouble at times, as I certainly felt invincible.

Now, here is the real kicker.

Naturally, as I got older, focus and maturity helped me to understand and grow into my intended path. Generally speaking, this is ideal. However, I’ve had individuals that clearly seemed much more delighted in my growing pains than actual, meaningful growth.

Before you say it, it is indeed a fact that this has more to with the individuals than it has to do with me, and I often find myself appalled to even know people like that. My imposter syndrome stems from individuals that were happier when I was younger, figuring out life, and goofing around, if you will.

How unbelievably small of them.

I literally take their sour grapes as ingredients to gather to create the most to-die-for wine that one could possibly market. 😉

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
2020, although glum in many aspects, was a year I chose to truly do the work.

I became certified in Curanderismo, as well as healing concepts in Chinese Medicine, and started the Kult of Kindness Podcast, which has gone on to be one of the top ten shared podcasts, globally. (via Spotify)

This is my life’s work.

The age of 15 is when I had my first psychology class; at that moment I knew exactly what I wanted to do in life. I also loved fashion and glamour, and as I got older, the latter dominated, for many, many years. To this day, it is still very much a part of the fabric that makes up Marci, As I’ve grown older, I’ve grown to understand how to incorporate it all into that which is literally, my brand.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The psychology class at age 15 was definitely my “aha” moment.

I kept the notes I’d taken in that class up until 2009.

For those early in their journeys, I’m figuring you are on your journey because it was something that kept, ‘calling your name,’ or tugging at your heart strings.

For the thought process, close your eyes, take in a deep breath, allow it to engulf you, if you will. Let the ideas flood you, let what the future of what this endeavor looks like for you to appear. How does seeing the possibilities of this all make you feel?

Open your eyes, jot down thoughts and potential game plan. Create vision boards, educate yourself- at length.

Make it happen. ❤️

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Okay, this question is somewhat the one that best fit my urge to answer, but I need to flip it a bit.

I have told many, I’ve mentioned it on the Kult of Kindness Podcast, and now I’m mentioning it here.

It is a phenomenal time to be a black woman.

There is a natural pride, and joy that so many of us have held as black girls/women, our entire lives.

Society, individuals, some in actual friend circles oftentimes believe that black women are going through this life with burdens weighing their shoulders down, and for may that is real… but know this.

There are countless black women/girls going through this life with a natural presence of joy, pride, and confidence; you could say we were born with it. You could say, it’s in our bloodline.❤️
