Meet Marci Taylor

We recently connected with Marci Taylor and have shared our conversation below.

Marci, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
After being in the radio industry for over 20 years and building relationships and networking I realized that I liked hearing stories of people in the community. In 2020, I was talking with a friend and suggested that she should do a podcast for women in the community who rise above and become bosses. She encouraged me to move forward with the idea. Since 2020 I have interviewed close to 40 women, with amazing stories to tell

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the podcast host of “A Journey with Women Who Boss Up”,  I have conversations with women who rise above and become bosses. At first, my goal was to hit a target demo of women from 18-25. But now, I have broadend my scope to include a wide range of women.  I’ve interviewed women in different industries who have shared there stories, like  a doula, an unsighted author, a fitness coach and someone running for mayor.  They all express a heartfelt thankfulness that someone was giving women an outlet to tell their stories.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me the top three skills are listening, asking the right questions and making people feel comfortable. This is a good way to build relationships, and ensure understanding, especially if someone feels nervous.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I meditate, go to a quiet area, pray, or sit at the beach. I also have people in my circle that will get me out of the rut by giving me encouragement and support.
