Meet Margie Traxler

We recently connected with Margie Traxler and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Margie , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from a deep belief that every day I am alive is a gift to live out. I love meeting and getting to know people. Everyone has a unique story to tell. Mine? We moved every couple of years until I was in the 6th grade. My father was an Episcopalian Minister. It was a bit tougher for my siblings, but for me, I just saw it as a new group of people to get to know. Another people adventure to add to my life. I saw these opportunities as good. With each move, my optimism, and belief in the inherent goodness of life, grew stronger. After graduation from college, I applied for a position with a science laboratory that stated they required several years of experience, yet I just felt/believed this was the right job for me. There were several interviews, one of which they said they just were unsure of who was the best candidate. I kept my mouth shut but wanted to tell them that I knew the job was mine. I got that job over the more qualified candidate, and I attribute that to my healthy optimism. Optimism opens doors.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the founder of Grain Free Mama’s, a Food Tech company crafting the healthiest baking mixes on the planet. With a BS in Biology, concentrating in Microbiology and Botany, my passion for the transformative power of natural foods has fueled my mission. I am also the author of the ‘Food Breakthrough: Adjust Your Diet, Transform Your Life’ book and cookbook. Grain Free Mama’s baking mixes are free from edible grass ingredients, dairy, soy, botanical nuts, and artificial additives, aligning her dedication to clean, wholesome eating. Additionally, I am the host of ‘A Place At The Table’ online community. My goal is to also open our first totally allergen free cafe/packaging location within the next 2 years.

What motivates me to get involved is my absolute commitment to SDG goal #2: Zero Hunger. I grew up in a family that was poorer. My folks didn’t have the resources to purchase specialty products at premium prices. Had I been the one, like my daughter who was 6-yrs-old when we discovered that the combination of wheat and sugar was burning little holes in her intestines, it would have been extremely difficult for my parents to get me the foods that would allow me to be healthy and not develop an autoimmune disease. My passion and goal are to get these products and resources into the hands of those who need them most, and into the schools, hospitals, and care facilities where they will be life giving for many.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most impactful qualities/skills, knowledge that have served me well are (1) grit/determination to be a solution provider for people just like my daughter and I who have to eat very clean for optimal health, (2) my biology/microbiology education which gave me the foundation upon which I could create a new way to make delicious moist baked goods, and (3) the courage to believe in myself to succeed. My advice for people who face autoimmune problems, food sensitivities and food allergies are to refuse to accept that you have to be sick. Educate yourself, change your mindset to accommodate healthy eating and lifestyle habits, and get the help you need to stay encouraged as you grow. We, at Grain Free Mama’s would love to be a support on your journey. It can be done. My children and I are very healthy and happy because we refused to accept anything less than total health and you can too.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am actively seeking angels and partners to collaborate with to fuel Grain Free Mama’s growth. I have self-funded to this point and am poised to turn it up a notch. Interested folks can reach me by email at [email protected]. Our office number is 702-333-5357.
