We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Maria Alexandra Pinto a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Maria Alexandra, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
In life, our purpose often undergoes frequent changes. When I embarked on my career journey as a fashion consultant, my focus was on conveying emotions through visuals. However, as I transitioned into the role of a fashion and beauty content strategist, my approach evolved. Now, I strive to weave narratives not only through visuals but also through the power of words and music.
I discover purpose in every facet of existence, as I perceive my role as guiding others to experience the beauty of fashion on a deeper level. Over the years, I’ve gradually shed materialistic tendencies and cultivated a profound spiritual connection within myself. This newfound spirituality now resonates within the realms of arts and the fashion industry.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Maria Alexandra Pinto, also known as Mapi, a creative content strategist specializing in fashion, beauty, and wellness brands. As the co-founder of CONTENTA, a dynamic digital marketing agency driving the success of beauty and wellness brands featured at Sephora, I’m deeply immersed in the industry.
Beyond my bustling career in beauty and fashion consultancy, I embarked on another venture, My Wellnest Club. It serves as a haven for Latina women to foster wellness and community, spanning between Miami and New York. What began with hosting complimentary wellness events in Central Park has blossomed into partnerships with esteemed clients such as EY Consulting and Mastercard.
Now, in an exciting endeavor to intertwine both passions, CONTENTA and My Wellnest Club, I’m thrilled to announce “Wellnest x Female Founders,” debuting next Fall in Miami. This exclusive event is crafted to unite female founders, fostering connections, knowledge-sharing, and most importantly, providing a sacred space for self-renewal and disconnection from the virtual world.
By-invitation only, “Wellnest x Female Founders” is tailored for women trailblazers in the realms of tech, beauty, wellness, and fashion. It’s a celebration of female entrepreneurship, empowerment, and holistic well-being.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three skills or qualities stand out as profoundly impactful and remain vital to this day: humbleness, persistence, and consistency.
Socrates captured a universal truth with his words, “The more I know, the more I realize I know nothing.” Embracing humility is paramount both within and outside the workforce. As we learn, we become increasingly aware of the vastness of knowledge and the limitations of our own understanding. Humility isn’t about dismissing our abilities; it’s about acknowledging that we don’t possess all the answers. It’s about recognizing that while we may be intelligent, we’re not omniscient, and we’re prone to making mistakes. Surrounding oneself with individuals who are smarter fosters humility, a principle I’ve found invaluable.
Persistence and consistency, though distinct, have been instrumental in shaping my journey. Persistence entails the determination to pursue a goal despite obstacles, while consistency involves reliably performing actions in a steady manner. When combined, they fuel an unstoppable drive toward realizing dreams. Belief in one’s ideas and projects is key to maintaining persistence. It’s important to note that persistence isn’t blindly repeating actions without results; it’s about steadfastly believing in the potential for success.
Consistency, perhaps the most challenging, is essential because progress is gradual. Success isn’t achieved overnight but through the accumulation of daily victories and habits. Yet, maintaining consistency can be daunting; when results are elusive, the temptation to give up arises. However, it’s during these moments of doubt that pushing forward is most critical. True progress is often achieved by persevering through setbacks and staying steadfast on the path toward our goals.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I thrive on the connections I make with people and the knowledge I glean from their diverse perspectives and experiences. There’s something truly captivating about the dynamics that unfold when individuals come together, particularly within the context of shared interests and aspirations.
As I look ahead, I’m excited about the opportunity to collaborate with CPG, fashion, beauty, and wellness brands who share our vision for Wellness x Female Founders this Fall. By partnering with these brands, we can create meaningful experiences that not only elevate their presence but also contribute to the collective growth and empowerment of Latin female founders.
My aim is to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive community where women can network, learn from each other, and access valuable resources and support systems. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts, we can continue to expand the reach and impact of Wellness x Female Founders, enriching the lives and ventures of Latin female entrepreneurs across various industries.
