We were lucky to catch up with Marie Belle Pérez Rivera recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marie Belle, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
A big part of this process is confronting imposter syndrome. There are so many talented people in this community, it is easy to fall into the trap of comparison.
The most useful practice that has helped me with this is to keep doing the work, invest in yourself daily, put in the hours. I know that my practice is its own currency and no matter what other people are doing or not doing, I can rely and trust that my practice, embodiment, and integration will speak for itself.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a teacher, athlete, artist, writer, community leader, and experience maker. I love to travel the world, teach yoga, share Somatic and Embodiment Practices for Reducing Stress, Developing Resilience, and Healing Trauma, and especially love being a Latina health coach and small business owner.
I have started focusing more on working with women as a business mentor and health coach. More specifically, I am about to launch Empowered Strength- a 90 day all women’s health coaching program that offers personalized programming, small group coaching, and education on women’s physiology, how to optimize nutrition and training for your cycle, and connects like minded women with an encouraging and supportive community.
I am also super stoked to be launching my app, Move with Marie Belle, where you can access me anytime, anywhere. This app includes all different types of goodies: yoga classes, booty workouts, recovery and breathwork, and so much more! I will love for you to check it out.
Last, I host yoga retreats all over the Americas. My next two retreats are in Puerto Rico in July (for my birthday) and in Mexico on November 11. I will love to have you join us!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The top three qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey were discipline, devotion, and consistency.
I am so grateful for the level of hard work that was required of me to obtain my Masters degree, Graduate Certificate, and Ph.D. in Psychology. Those 5 years taught me the importance of time management, learning to work under pressure, and how to support and defend my understandings with reason, logic, and grace.
I am forever in awe of the level of discipline and consistency that the practice of Ashtanga Yoga helped me embody. This practice has been an ongoing anchor in my life since 2007 and the level of love and devotion that has come through and is still coming through is inspiring.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I will love to collaborate with talented and open minded thought leaders in mindfulness, embodiment, and body weight fitness. I am in this space of my life where I am ready to create something way bigger than what’s been done, I’d love to partner up with good humans via email ([email protected]) or instagram (@mariebellepr)
