Meet Marisa Carson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Marisa Carson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Marisa below.

Hi Marisa, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I love this question because for so long I felt lost and purposeless, so to have found that in myself is HUGE. Growing up I was an athlete. Movement was always a natural part of my life. I took that with me through high school and then college. Like most of us out there, in my younger years I developed a really negative self image. I would limit the amount of food I was eating in order to be as small as I could. I would run myself into the ground trying to burn as many calories as possible. When I got to my second year of college I was exhausted, both physically and mentally. I stopped caring. I let myself go. I let the party atmosphere take over. That carried on for more years than I would like to admit. I hit rock bottom one day when I was living in California by myself and looked in the mirror and didn’t even recognize who I had become. That was the day I started over. That was the day I began to find myself again. I woke up every morning and told myself one thing I loved about myself and then I went to the gym, or went for a walk. I started moving my body in ways I used to love again. I discovered a passion for movement, self love and learning. That’s when I discovered my purpose. I knew I wanted to help women fall in love with themselves again. I studied everything I could and developed a ton of generic programs for the gym and would give them to friends and family to try. Eventually I became certified in personal training and group fitness and my love for helping others rediscover themselves and what they’re capable of has only grown. My purpose is helping people that are a past version of myself, and that is also my passion.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an online and one on one fitness trainer. I created different platforms to be able to reach as many people as I can. I currently offer training in person in Georgia or online so that I am able to train you from literally anywhere in the world!

I just launched an app that makes everything seamless from the start of your journey to the finish line.

I think my biggest professional focus now is just trying to broaden my reach. I have experience helping a plethora of different women, so if you’re feeling like you’re stuck in that rut and you don’t know how to restart, I can help you!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the biggest quality that was most impactful on my journey is strength and the ability I had to find that again. I had to be strong to pick myself up and start over. I had to be strong to keep going. I have to be strong now because myself and others are dependent on that, Passion is another. important quality. Without passion I don’t think I’d be developing my business the way I am currently. My love for and knowledge of science of the body and mind has been very helpful as well. It’s something I can continue to self teach, and study to continuously learn.

My best advice for people early in their journey is just don’t quit. Trust the process and know that you possess all of the skills you need to achieve the things you want to.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
I think my ideal client is a past version of myself. I really love helping women that remind me of a younger me. I want to work with the woman who has lost her way. The woman who has lost the love for herself and wants to find it again. The woman who is ready to move her body in ways that will help her reach her goals. The woman who has so much internal strength but may need a kickstart to help bring it out. My ideal client doesn’t care about the number on the scale anymore, she just wants to get strong and healthy. She wants to feel powerful and love herself again.
