We were lucky to catch up with Marissa Lada recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marissa, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I feel like my whole life and all of my experiences have led me to my purpose of holistic design. I grew up being very sensitive, being both empathic and neurodivergent, which caused me to be very sensitive to my environment. My first experience in understanding how spaces impact us is my grandparent’s house. My grandfather was a hoarder and going over to his home was a stressful and overwhelming experience. I didn’t understand why at the time, but I developed a NEED to feel better in my spaces, which lead me to take an interest in creating soothing spaces. In high school, I discovered Interior Design, which sparked my pursuit of a degree in Interior and Environmental Design. However, during my college years, a battle with health issues (both mental and physical) got me involved in holistic health and overcoming the mindset of changing my life and reality. A spiritual awakening resulted in this and made me question my new degree and what I really wanted to do for a living. I then discovered Feng Shui while working in a metaphysical shop and everything came to a singular point. Weaving together these experiences I had with spaces and my understanding of how important our homes are, I focused on holistic design and helping people heal in their homes for better health, happiness, and energy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a holistic designer and home coach. Through a holistic approach (including interior design, color psychology, decluttering, mindset shifts, healthy home habits + hacks, feng shui, and sustainability), I help people improve the relationship they have with their homes for better health, happiness, and energy. Understanding that we are unique (and so are our needs/homes), I have a variety of offers and ways to work with clients. My signature offer, The Hello Holistic Home Program, is an 8 week container in helping people achieve a healthy and healing home for themselves while getting customized care and support.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three aspects that impacted my journey the most were probably staying consistent in my marketing, building a community, and following my intuition. I would say that as much as I learned the technical skills, marketing tips, and business strategies, I needed to follow and trust my intuition to feel how to apply these skills that worked best for me and felt GOOD. As someone who is focused on a conscious and intentional way of business, I need things to feel good and in alignment for me in order to fully serve my clients.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
As someone who is focused on building community, I love connecting and collaborating with other holistic health practitioners and mindset coaches, as I believe many of these skills are transferable in all areas of life. The best way to connect to me is through email or sending me a message on my Instagram.
