Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Markecha Love. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Markecha, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
I’ve always seen myself as a giver. I am a firm believer in what God tells us in the Bible when he says it’s better to give than receive. I’ve learned that genuine people are hard to come across and life has already dealt some people I bad hand the least you can give a person is a warm smile and kindness. If I can make the difference I will, if I can go the extra mile I do.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the found of She Chose Her. It’s an organization centered around women to help overcome guilt, prioritize self care, while walking them through their healing journey with God. I focus my time on encouraging, motivating, influencing, and helping women young and old work through life challenges that they are currently in, have ventured through, or even haven’t faced yet. We focus on building principles based off biblical truth. What makes this organization so special to me is because I birth it during the lowest season of my life. I was a single mother of two, suffering from depression and anxiety, and I felt like no one cared. I heard God tell me you have the need now meet it. We focus on not just helping each other but also serving the community and giving back to other people in need.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful areas of knowledge and skill for me was knowing who I was. Identity is so important when it comes to having a business or even growing one. You have to know what your audience needs and how can you be of help to them when it comes to that need. Also being relatable and transparent was a quality that I had to display. How can we learn from anyone who doesn’t have experience. I remember days I would question why me God going through certain things, but I learned why not me. In order to help someone you have to be able to meet them where they are, sometimes that means enduring some of those same moments, traumas, pains and triggers. And most importantly I needed love. Learning to love people where they are, not what you want them to be or how you want them to be but for where God has placed them in that season. The best version you can be is the best version of yourself. We have to always focus on ways to make us better no matter if that’s physically, mentally, spiritually, or emotionally. My advice would be is to never stop learning, never stop reading, never stop allowing yourself to evolve. As you continue to grow you learn that you are constantly becoming someone better.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My spiritual father Apostle Stephen A. Davis has been the most helpful to me when it come to overcoming challenges and developing. The way he loves people, respects them, show loyalty, and honor is the perfect example of Christ loving the church. He’s molded me and continues to mold me with his books, his teachings, his words of affirmation and encouragement when it comes to being the best version of me.
