Matt, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience finds its roots in the practice of mindful breathing. Whether handling the complexities of the workplace or maneuvering the ebb and flow of everyday life, I made a conscious decision long ago to embrace the belief in my own strength. In my younger days, I was a bit of a free spirit, navigating through some challenging situations. Fortunately, I managed to steer my life in the right direction, and I credit this approach for helping me find my way. With each inhale and exhale, I reaffirm my commitment to overcoming challenges, recognizing that every step forward brings me closer to success.

I manage an innovative, independent optical lens laboratory (AccuLab) that stands at the forefront of a constantly evolving optical landscape. We are the last fully independent lens lab in Illinois and 1 of only 3 Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned lens labs in the USA. Amidst this space of advancing technology and products, our dedication to continual learning and adaptation ensures unmatched value for our esteemed clientele. I find immense joy in exploring groundbreaking products that promise to enhance the quality of eye care for patients.
At present, my company stands on the brink of unveiling a pioneering range of anti-fatigue lenses meticulously crafted for individuals immersed in screen-centric lifestyles. With our distinctive branding, we are primed to offer a revitalizing and personalized lens solution to the practices we serve. Furthermore, we are set to introduce a revolutionary new lens variant poised to challenge the status quo of traditional progressive lenses. It’s an exciting time for the optical world!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Prior to joining AccLuab, my experience was only in wearing glasses. However, since embarking on this journey, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge, emerging as a seasoned professional in the optical industry and a reliable team member. The initial quality that had a profound impact on me is my unwavering determination to continually enhance and broaden my expertise. I am gracious to the founder and owner of my company for entrusting me from the beginning with the responsibility and believing in my ability to deliver results flawlessly on the first attempt. I gained extensive knowledge through hands-on experience operating machinery and manufacturing lenses. This marked another significant milestone in my professional journey. Another attribute I possess is my unwavering commitment to precision. This has been sharpened as I now serve as the final checkpoint in fulfilling lens orders for multiple high volume eye care practices. These attributes have played a crucial role in shaping my achievements and positioning me where I stand today. Remember, without the courage to attempt and possibly stumble, true learning and mastery remain elusive.
