Meet McQuaid Boo

We were lucky to catch up with McQuaid Boo recently and have shared our conversation below.

McQuaid, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I find my purpose in the people I work with and having the opportunity to tell their stories.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I have been in the video business for 5 years now and love every second of it. In 2020 my wife and I got married and we combined our video and photo skills to take Boo Creative to the next level. We added weddings to our portfolio and found that it is another way to connect with people and tell their stories. Right now Boo Creative shares its love for story telling and capturing moments in both the corporate and wedding and event world. We are always looking forward to the new and existing encounters we get to have with couples and businesses. We love making the visual marketing process professional, simple, and creative for everyone.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
communication, creative growth and business management are three areas I found added the most growth both internal with our team and external with clients. Communication brings common ground to areas that the clients are often unfamiliar with. It provides comfort and trust in the relationship so everyone can be on the same page. Creative growth is so important because we never want to plateau and we always want to find the best and most exciting ways to present a product, service or relationship. After chatting with many companies similar to ours I have found the most successful ones have a common level of business management. The more we grow the more pieces there are. Working with a team and communicating consistent business practices has helped us to reach the next level and we plan to continue to grow and expand and know that business management like creativity needs to evolve.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Owning and running a business brings so many challenges. The feeling of being overwhelmed is something that seems to constantly come and go. We are believers in Jesus Christ and when the feeling of being overwhelmed sets in we often get into a quiet and calm state and meditate and pray with Jesus. We often can find purpose and reason for the problem in front of us and can find some area in the business that will have growth on the other side of the problem. Also finding a mentor is extremely helpful. Being able to speak out our problems and get advice helps the problems to appear smaller.
