Meet Megan Larson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Megan Larson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Megan with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from being raised in a small agricultural community in northcentral Montana. Hard work is just something everybody does, regardless of age. From the time I was able to work, I was.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a small business owner, through and through.

My first business is M Rock Creative. M Rock Creative provides graphic design, website development & ongoing WordPress website maintenance services. I’m highly invested in ensuring my clients succeed, as their success partially reflects my work.

I started my business in 2013 as a side gig, to eventually launch it into a full-time career. That eventually came quickly and I had enough work to quit my “day job” in 2016. Was it easy? Hell no. When I launched my business full-time, I was 3 months pregnant with my 3rd child and my husband was a full-time student at CSU. The pressure to succeed was immense and I busted ass to make it work.

Over the years, I’ve learned that relationships are key. Never burn a bridge. Collaborate and connect with others. Work together to build a better community and good things will come your way.

In late 2023, I launched another business with my partners. Wellington Office Suites is a professional office space paired with a collaborative & supportive environment.

I am also a co-owner of Wellington Brewfest, Wellington, Colorado’s first craft beer festival!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Hard Work: Don’t be afraid to put in the work. Authenticity: Be yourself and you’ll be surrounded by people who just mesh with you.
Get Uncomfortable: Sometimes you’re put into uncomfortable situations – be okay with that. In my experience, the biggest growth opportunities have come out of being uncomfortable.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for people to partner with and learn from! I’d love to find others in my industry who have the skills and expertise to bounce ideas off and work together on projects. I’d also like to collaborate with people in the industry who have different, complementary skills: social media, Shopify/eCommerce, & copywriting. Let’s work together!
