Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meghan Rothschild. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Meghan, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
My company was born out of repetitive sexual harassment and belittlement in the workplace. I was constantly questioned or shot down because people thought I was “just a pretty face.” I have felt for years like I have more to prove, so that motivated me to be successful in all that I do. In my 30s, I realized I truly didn’t care about what others thought as long as I knew I was authentic, hardworking and genuine. This has been my driving force for years: be true to who you are and the noise simply won’t matter!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have over 19 years experience in Marketing and Public Relations. I am the President and owner of the marketing and public relations firm Chikmedia, a company that puts an emphasis on female-‐run organizations and women business owners, and offers strategic marketing planning, and creative PR. My passion is to support women and to help them find their brand voice.
I have been featured in numerous media outlets such as Marie Clare Magazine, Fitness Magazine, Teen Vogue, WebMD, ABC World News, The Huffington Post, Associated Press, Inside Edition, NBC Nightly News and CNN, to name a few. I was featured in one of 2011’s most shared YouTube videos called Dear 16 Year Old Me. Her work in skin cancer awareness landed her an award from Cosmopolitan Magazine along side Kristen Bell and David Wright. I love media work and continue to expand my social media reach through influencer marketing and content production.
I love what I do and I love educating people to help them understand the importance of branding and good marketing.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Communications skills – so key! If you can effective communicate with people it does not matter what you do, you will always be successful.
Authenticity – be YOU! Trying to be anyone else will result in failure. Live your truest life.
Boundary setting – know you worth, work hard but don’t let people push you around. Find a way to be firm and give yourself the space to do quality work without external influences.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I love collaborating with other like-minded professionals, or businesses looking to reach new audiences. I produce social media content to raise awareness for brands and entrepreneurs, so if you’re looking to talk about what you do, message me! My company also has a blog where we feature business owners for free!
