We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melissa Laughlin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Melissa, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I have found my purpose through my faith in Jesus. I knew I wanted to help people, especially those going through difficult circumstances in their life, but I wasn’t sure how. I had a for profit cleaning company & one day at work, it was like God dropped this idea into my lap-do this (cleaning) for free to bless others. The Blessed Home Project was born out of my obedience and trust in God. He took my natural talents of professionally cleaning, my heart for serving & my love for others & gave me a place to put all of that into action!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the founder & president of the Blessed Home Project. We provide free house cleaning services to those in need, whether it’s a cancer diagnosis, various illnesses, loss of a loved one, things of that nature. We want to be a blessing, offer hope & encouragement, while providing a practically need. Our recipients are so grateful to have a team of people that are loving & kind, providing this type of help in their home.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important skills or qualities that have been the most impactful for me have been my faith, my love for others & my gift of cleaning. My advice to anyone that is just starting, trying to figure out what their purpose is, find what you love & what comes natural to you. Don’t let society dictate what you should do what your life. It won’t always be easy, but stay on your path, do not compare yourself or progress to anyone else & you will do great!
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We would love to partner with other people, businesses & ministries to help further our mission! In order for us to continue to successfully complete the many cleanings that need done, we need continued funds.
