Surrounding myself with motivational resources, learning from successful entrepreneurs, and transforming my mindset about wealth and entrepreneurship were also crucial in overcoming imposter syndrome. Reflecting on my journey as a Loctitian and entrepreneur, three qualities that have been most impactful are resilience, continuous learning, and a strong commitment to excellence.
Resilience: Facing challenges and obstacles is inevitable in any journey, especially in industries where systemic biases and limited opportunities exist. Resilience helped me navigate through tough times, bounce back from setbacks, and stay focused on my goals despite adversity. My advice to those starting their journey is to cultivate resilience by staying flexible, adapting to changes, and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles.
Continuous Learning: The beauty industry is constantly evolving, and staying ahead of the curve requires a commitment to continuous learning. Whether it’s staying updated on new techniques, trends, or industry standards, investing in knowledge is crucial. Seek out mentorship, attend workshops, read relevant books, and stay curious about new developments in your field. Embracing lifelong learning not only enhances your skills but also keeps you relevant and competitive.

In my journey as a Loctitian and entrepreneur, I’ve relied on a ton of resources to help me grow both personally and professionally. One book that has had a profound impact on me is “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. It has transformed my mindset about wealth and entrepreneurship, providing me with valuable insights that I’ve applied to my own journey.
In addition to books, I find motivation and inspiration from listening to motivational speeches by influential figures like Oprah Winfrey, Michael Todd, Steve Harvey, and Sarah Jakes. Their words of wisdom and encouragement serve as a daily reminder to strive for greatness and push past obstacles.
Growing up, I didn’t have many examples of successful entrepreneurs to look up to. So I had to create my own path and create my own definition of success, not just for myself but also so I can leave a legacy for my children and grandchildren.
By surrounding myself daily with these resources, I’ve been able to cultivate a positive mindset and gather the tools I need to succeed in both my personal and professional life. Although I may not know these authors and speakers personally, they have played a critical role in empowering me to break barriers, defy expectations, and build a thriving business on my own terms.
