Meet Mercedes Milson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mercedes Milson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Mercedes , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I got my resilience from the women in my family. From my grandmother to my mother. To my big sister. I wouldn’t be who I am if I hadn’t wasn’t raised in their strength and resilience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 3 years now. And though it has its ups and downs, I wouldn’t change anything. My nail tech business is the most challenging but most rewarding business I’m apart of. Being an artist in todays era, is not for the weak. A lot of tears, late nights and sleepless nights comes with having your own business period. But to see your clients satisfied is also most rewarding. I started off as most nail techs. Doing only nails. As I’m expanding my business, I’m adding more services that I can not wait to announce.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, building your nail foundation before jumping into the designs and gems is so important. You never want your clients nails to be so pretty but they don’t past over a week. Nail retention is so important to build a clientele.

Also, be genuine in what you do and do what you love. It’s very easy to want to give up on anything when you aren’t doing something you absolutely, wholeheartedly love.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The numbed one obstacle most of us are facing is the world’s recession. Always learning and wanting your business to grow will help a lot. When things get slow, it motivate me more to keep applying pressure. To keep coming up with new ideas and to always challenge myself to be better than I was the day before.
