We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michael Momoh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
my confidence and self esteem comes from my acceptance of who I am, accepting my insecurities, reviewing past experiences that made me who I am and also my ability to face challenges and be bold.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Started my journey in 2020 as a fashion production manager , flourished in that because of my attention to details in the production process of fashionable art and clothing. Having worked with quite a lot of fashion brands like Elbrty, wearpriest, Christian parker,SHUSHI,Russell Solomon, and many other in consulting, recruiting factory staffs, coordinating tailors and effectively directing the entire process of manufacturing collection, bespoke and exclusive drops.
Started my clothing brand and business in 2023 with my friend and business partner which is named curatedbyJU which stands for CURATED BY JUST YOU, is a style conscious brand and manufacturing hub aim to enlighten people about the effect of your style and how important it is to your everyday life and it has been a journey literally, we’ve toured 3 cities in nigeria ( Lagos, Abuja and kaduna) exhibiting and spreading the goodnews of been style conscious through fashion and art while raising a community, we looking forward to touring more globally in 2024, CuratedbyJU was birthed out of the passion for style and creating a manufacturing hub for brands in Africa and beyond.
Also started a talent management company in 2024 that currently focus in nurturing young creatives and managing careers.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 qualities that have helped me so far are; 1) patience and humility : You learn a lot and quickly in life if you hold these two qualities as your closest friends in life
2) Always trust yourself when making decisions
3) Always be open to learn cause learning never stops, it only increases your skill and experiences
Lastly I’ll want to let folks who are early in their journey to know that Experience isn’t always the best teacher, observation Is the best teacher. Observe people who are where you want to be and you’ll catch up faster
