Meet Michelle MnM

We were lucky to catch up with Michelle MnM recently and have shared our conversation below.

Michelle, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Im a learner of life. Im constantly listening, reading, and talking to peers to gain wisdom. I keep journals around me to write ideas and sketch doodles. I organize lists and take pictures to create memories. The best way I would describe creativity is to maintain an open state of mind and how you approach everyday life to find glimmers. Because of that approach, I keep creativity alive without trying too hard.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I live a multifaceted life but on most days I work in music technology as an Engineer. Originally in software and now in QA which is Quality Assurance aka running tests to make sure everything is working properly before it reaches production. Along with that I DJ on the weekends and occasionally facilitate photoshoots for various families and clients.

The pace of life these days are things I used to pray for years ago so to be in a space to creatively expand is a blessing. Professionally, it motivates me to focus on improving technical and musical skillsets, and creating a flow of consistency to share my journey with others.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Courage, Faith, and Dedication ! — You have to want it bad enough and believe that everything is working out in your favor. Rejection is protection but when you have an image or idea in your head that wont go away, you have to stay committed to the process of fulfilling that goal. Its normally bigger than you, and maintaining humility allows you to be the vessel to create and connect with others from an open heart space. What’s for you will find you. Just have the courage to stand out as an individual, keep the faith that you’re on the right path, and maintain dedication when the path gets bumpy <3. You got this!

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I think the most impactful thing my parents did for me was expose me to be a well rounded individual. My dad taught me to be proud of my culture, to love education, and be tech savvy while my mom encouraged me to lean into my creativity, be well spoken, and nurture the home. Together my parents exposed me to the love of music, dancing, traveling, and being kind to others without losing who you are at the core.

Although my time spent with my dad was limited, his influence on my life molded me to enjoy life to the fullest and think ahead on how to enhance community. Im forever grateful for the structure and guidance both of my parents poured into me to embellish life with however much Im presented with.
