Meet Mikey Wells

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mikey Wells a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mikey, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
One of the strengths I possess is the ability to remain in a creative space. Other than working on my own material, I have had the pleasure of creating for others. I am repeatedly blessed with the opportunity to bring visions to life by way of mixing and mastering songs and creating promotional content for my clients. Working with other artists and visionaries has afforded me the opportunity to remain consistent in my creativity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an established independent recording artist and music producer. The most fulfilling part of what I do is that I am able to share my creativity with others. Everything I do to prepare for a new release or venture, I am able to offer to do for others as well. I call it the “Mikey Wells Treatment.” I am considered a one stop shop for music production and artwork. I have had success in recording, mixing, mastering, video production, cover art, and various promotional works. I have been blessed to start this venture alongside my Real Estate career as a licensed REALTOR. I utilize my skills in both areas and have had success with helping others in their business. Mikey Wells Productions continues to grow.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three things that have had a significant impact in my journey have been customer service, technicality, and transparency. I have honored each of these points during my time with a client. In the work I do for others, I operate with a heart of service, I remain diligent in my processes for flawless execution of any contract, song, or video work, and I am upfront and honest about progress and completion. My mission is to work a project until complete satisfaction is achieved. So far, I have been able to manage these points effortlessly.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I think it is important to strive for greatness in each area you are passionate about. As someone who wears many hats, I know how important it is to go all in on your strengths and really showcase them however, acknowledging what you may need improvement on keeps you growing. As an artist, I was only used to working on my own material. I was able to master my own voice, my vision and sound. I eventually started to expand my ear and knowledge in this area by working for others. As of now, I have been able to work with several artists with different sounds and grow that side of my wheelhouse. I welcome the growth and strive to build healthy habits and business relationships. Ultimately, I desire to be someone to look up to for my work ethic, creativity and services.
