Meet Miss Malik

We recently connected with Miss Malik and have shared our conversation below.

Miss Malik, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My upbringing. I grew up in a separated home. My parents weren’t together and my siblings and I moved around a lot. I spent a lot of time alone since my mom worked. I learned to take after myself really early in life, which has helped me to be solution oriented.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I freelance model for independent brands in Houston and New York. I have walked in a few fashion shows and acted in some independent films. I make music as well, just to self express. I really enjoy making content that is either informative, or funny. I like to make people smile, and encourage people to keep going, or pursue their dreams.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the most important skill is challenging your mind’s rebuttals to yourself. Sometimes our minds are programmed with self doubt and we have to master overcoming that doubt. The more we prove our self doubt wrong, the less our mind plays that self doubt to us. Anyone early in their journey, remember that life is short and that you are in control. You should always follow your intuition, pursue your goals, and the right people will come into your life, the wrong ones will naturally fall away.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I did not read a book, but I learned a lot from Bruce Lipton’s YouTube videos. The wisdom I found most impactful was the reprogramming of subconscious mind. I came to understand my self image and self doubt was rooted in negative things other people said or did throughout the duration of my life. Lipton teaches us how to undo that.
