Meet Miya Lewis

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Miya Lewis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Miya below.

Miya, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I believe I get my reliance from the amazing loved ones in my life. I’ve had the privilege to witness numerous people throughout my family, and in the relationships that I built through friends and partners, my husband, how resilient people can be, and when you’re able to watch someone go through trials and tribulations and be able to bounce back watch someone go through different obstacles and be able to get back up-subconsciously your mind, body, and soul adapt to that energy. For me, Resilience is meshed with determination. I’m determined to be successful in life- mentally, physically, and emotionally successful. That is a lifelong goal that I am working on daily to obtain. This resilient mindset has allowed me to not let anything stop me, and in return has brought out an amazing characteristic to have – Resilience
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My career has been a journey thus far and it’s only the beginning. I graduated from Georgia State University in 2020, and during my four years at the state, I interned with some amazing companies like the God Is Dope campaign ATL, Street 94.5.

I have always had a passion for the public eye as a child. I wanted to be an actress, then through high school I wanted to become a sports journalist, and finally, when I entered college, I wanted to do PR in the entertainment industry which led me to work at an amazing record label Zone 4 with Polow the Don, then I managed a multimedia studio in Brookhaven, Kiss Works Studios and eventually started and my own branding agency, Miya Burrus and Co., a.k.a. MB&C Branding Agency.

My personality breeds good energy, happiness, and enthusiasm, but structure and planning goals are my natural personality. God has placed me in so many different situations throughout my journey, the people I have met, the brands I have worked with from; Revanche Liquor to Kerry Hilson, to Aubz PR and A&R, for Mike Will Made It. To even create different projects with influencers like Mulatto, Jacob Lattimore, and Bee Simone. The list goes on about the experiences and opportunities that God has allowed me to experience and work which only has added to my value as a woman of good energy and great work ethic..

Even though my career is just starting, I feel like I have done so much already in the last five years, my journey consists of still helping entrepreneurs, still marketing businesses, still promoting, still bringing good energy and great work ethic, but in a different Industry, Real Estate and Business Strategy.

I think that it’s important for people to reflect on their career paths- from internships to actually making money, and when you go back and reflect on your career journey as a whole, and allows you to be content with the phrase that “God already knows the plan” because when I think about all the things I did that has lead me to where I am today. Everything makes sense.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Communication, Trust, Loyalty, and the most important Work Ethic
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

The Power of the Subconscious Mind is the first book. I read that changed my trajectory on how I look at my life and my mindset. I have a number of books that I could read, but I think that the first book you should read is the “Power of The Subconscious Mind” The next book is “The Power of Positive Thinking”! Both of those books are amazing, and they will teach you that mindset is the only thing you need to be whoever you want to be in life I know that that sounds cliché but it’s only cliché because we don’t believe it to be true because we don’t put practices in place to change how we subconsciously think about things.

Your brain is like any other muscle in your body, if you don’t work it out, it’ll be stiff and old and only move to the things that it knows to move to. But if you work your brain and practice exercises for your brain, you will be surprised how big of a muscle you tap into. These books are the first ones to start teaching you how to think like that.
