We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Miz.Clover. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Miz.Clover below.
Hi Miz.Clover, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my passion for music, really for any creative outlet. I’ve always been drawn to the arts since I was a kid, whether it was through drawing, painting, writing and singing. I always had this ceaseless itch to do something with my creativity. It’s not a matter of wanting but rather that I must. I think a lot of creative people have the same urge, it’s difficult to explain but there is a word that comes to mind when I think on it, it’s a calling.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Mainstream music has reached a level of copy catting I’ve never seen before. There’s so many genres that exist and yet many artists sound completely the same. My music, my brand, is aimed at creating music that’s outside of the norm, a breath of fresh air for the people who are tired of hearing the same narrative and the same voices being praised. The music industry is a ruthless beast, giving praise and fame to those who are most willing to lay down their originality for an image and sound “that sells”. The bottom line is money in their world. Miz.Clover was created to speak on the age of enlightenment, to dive deeply into feelings that we try to suppress and hide, to touch the soul beyond the level of superficiality and remind people of their divine nature. A lot of my personal philosophies and life experiences have shaped the way I write and the subject matter I touch on. I grew up in Los Angeles in a single parent household with just my mom and my siblings, money was tight and sometimes we barely had any food in the fridge, but despite the challenges I faced with my family I still had this sense in me that there was something important that I needed to do, That this message I had was bigger than any mediocre problem that could get thrown at me. So this is where it’s brought me. I have music released on all streaming platforms, music that has never been experienced before. My next project Clover’s field will be out and ready to be heard on November 17tth, which is also my birthday. I felt that it was the perfect way to birth a new project into existence. It’s a mix of R&B and Soul with a touch of electronic beats. People can expect more avant-garde music in 2024 with a mixture of electronic house and soul. If you’re someone that is looking for truth, someone looking for raw emotion with a touch of magic, this music is just what you’re looking for.
As far as events go I’ll have a couple of performances lined up for November and December, I have all the details listed on my Miz.Clover instagram account whenever I have that information ready, you’ll find me there.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most important skills that helped me were number one my ability and passion for singing, secondly my writing skills that I nurtured since childhood, and finally my style. It’s been my unique style that has brought a lot of people to be curious about who I am, what I stand for and what my music sounds like. My best advice is be true to yourself and don’t let others opinions deter you from pursuing what calls to you. Small minds cannot see the big picture and others can only speak based on their own experiences. Don’t take advice from people that have never dared to tread the path you’re on. Everyone has a unique journey to undergo and sometimes you’ll come across people that will try to convince you that their way is the only way to reach success. The truth is no one knows what the correct path is to success because there is no one way and everyone’s idea of success is different. As long as you listen to your inner self, the self that guides you, you will not fail.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I love collaborating with like minded and talented musicians. It creates a sense of community unlike any other. Creatives uniting for the sake of following their divine calling. I typically collaborate with producers because I provide the singing and the song writing aspect, I look for the music to be created by someone else, also because I’m not the most skilled with instruments or beat making. The genre’s I enjoy working on the most are electronic house beats but I also find myself thriving in R&B beats and some more experimental styles. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with some truly talented individuals who inspire me to challenge myself and get better with every song. I’ve always been open to collaborating with other singers and songwriters as well, In fact I’ve collaborated with artists like Orchestrated Sounds, Youniversoulrecords, J-Claud, Khern$ and Zoe Rene and I would love to have the opportunity to expand the pool of artists that I’ve worked with this coming year.
