We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Monet Howard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Monet , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I love this question because not only does it speak the Art of indiviality but truly what makes this such a major topic. When I do large media gatherings I have truly perfected the way I can read the room and to always show eye contact and specifically speak to people that I naturally draw to. I can ok pinpoint what feels like a perfect match of personality and know that my self confidence is the major captivating moment people notice. People can naturally feel good energy wether not you have or haven’t even speak to them. What makes me successful at knowing how to be effective in a room where no one looks me is to speak Or say something nice about someone else. Find out there interest and what they do. There comfortable I follow back to give them my card or share social medias just to end a positive note. You always want to have something memorable about you because people remember a beautiful experience wether they ever see you again.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Mone’t. I am the owner and CEO of The Artist Mone’t Beauty Artistry and Cosmetics. I specialize in all things Beauty captivating every client with Talent and Artistry. I brand myself as a transformation specialist. I have been in the beauty industry for 15+ years and everyday I pursue my passions I am forever grateful of the Legacy I have pursued. Branding my Global Cosmetic business with array of products such as Lipgloss, eyebrow pencils, eyebrow gloss, lip liners, under eye concealers, lip products, and more. I built my beauty brand during the pandemic wanting to expand my business with products and E books. I wanted to build a brand I could offer to clients after a service and it has really been a Long road to success but the will of life allows me to keep continuing my journey in this beauty business.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities and skills in this business is to always be do your research on everything you do. Allow yourself to adapt to constructive criticism and understand why you do what you love. How you can keep building your business no matter what stands in your way. Always look to improve your style or creativity in the specific niche you do. Never give up on your worth to pursue your passion and dreams.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Always staying consistent even through the hardest times. I faced some serious life threatening issues in the last year that made me consistently think if I had the will to continue this journey and I was really terrified to know what was next for me. I always looked back and my past and knew how much energy I put in to manifest my dreams and I’m forever grateful to continue this journey with love and light. I really am so hopeful for the future to keep going no matter what.
