We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mo’ney Roseman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mo’ney below.
Hi Mo’ney , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I realized I found my purpose about 3 years ago while still undergrad at the University of South Florida. I remember being on the phone with my oldest brother discussing how there is so much hidden talent throughout the city, (at that time I was located in Tampa, FL) that no one ever heard of but whole heartedly deserved recognition. The conversation we had that night was endless and we talked about doing a show that would feature athletes and give them a chance to be heard. I wanted to figure out how I could bring awareness to these athletes.
For a while that idea was left alone and no progress was really made, COVID happened and I moved to Starkville, MS to pursue my career path. While being out there, I again, saw another area with so much talent and little light. In the Summer of 2021 I took the first step towards developing this long thought-out plan and purchased an LLC to what is now Watch Me Work Sports.
All I had was an LLC and a dream. I begin writing down every thought I could think of to remember on sticky notes, note pads, journals, notes on my phone. I just wanted to make sure I did not forget any ideas. I bought a Cricket to start putting some of the physical ideas on to paper and tangible items. During this process I grew to love what I was doing: researching, finding new ideas, getting information on topics I only heard about but never went too in depth with, then I found a place to host my entire idea.
I found a platform that allowed me to build the Watch Me Work Sports brand just the way I imagined in my head. Once I saw all of the things I could add and attach within the platform, the rest is history.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a University of South Florida Graduate in Communications, I have been a part of two Division-1 Southeastern Conference athletic programs, Mississippi State University and The University of Florida, one PAC 12 athletic program, The University of Arizona as well as one All-American Conference athletic program with the University of South Florida. Professionally, I have been a part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Rays, continuously studying and learning the knowledge of the athletics world. I have dedicated my life to supporting, uplifting, and changing the lives of athletes that are often not noticed but show why they should be.
My passion for sports began early in childhood when I would watch football on the weekends with my father. I took my first step into a college stadium at the age of 9 years old in 2006 when I attended the season opener at Auburn University against Washington State. Being in Jordan Hare Stadium at that age was an unforgettable experience for me. Since that magical moment, I have tried to stay as close to sports as possible. Now that I am older and did not become a collegiate athlete myself, I wanted to help athletes feel that feeling of fans coming to see them, shaking the pompoms back and forth, awaiting game time. The stage is set, put on a show. It has been a lifelong goal to assist athletes in bettering themselves and putting their talents on display.
I have spent restless years researching, trying to find the fuel to ignite the fire. Watch Me Work Sports was developed out of a pure passion for all games.
At Watch Me Work Sports, we strive for all athletes globally to feel like the greatest of all time on and off the field. Our team provides various assets to athletes that help to define setting the standard of a true go-getter. WMWS is dedicated to fueling and igniting your inner beast.
WMWS’s main goal is to help with exposure for athletes to get them out there in front of a bigger audience and not just what is within their 20 mile radius.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One area of knowledge that was most impactful would be learning the business world. While in graduate school studying for an MBA in Sport Management, I would do my own research on business tips and tricks, read business books, look at business check list, Youtube videos, anything I could get my hands on to educate myself. Being that
Watch Me Work Sports has to do with athletes and sports so I needed to enlighten myself on how to research specific stats, see what drills develop an athlete in specific areas, how environments and climates can effect certain sports, finding out things I didn’t even know I knew mattered matter. During this whole journey is has been nothing but a continuous learning cycle and pure growth has come from it.
Finding a mentor had a huge impact as well. Every morning I woke up for a year straight, I would play the most recent or even sometime repeat episodes of Eric Thomas. He ignited a fire in me that I never knew I had. I was able to build confidence within myself which then reflected into Watch Me Work Sports and every day life.
I would advice folks early in their journey to keep going no matter what. Life happens and every day is not great, sometimes there are not so good weeks or months, you have to keep pushing and persevere. The grind is not always a struggle.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was believe in me. I was very fortunate to have a two parent home filled with love. Even as a kid I remember nothing but support from my parents as well as guidance. I am 100% the woman I am today because of my parents, the foundation they laid out and built for me has paved the way for me to want nothing more but better for myself, my community and generations to come. My parents have made me feel that I can and will leave a legacy in this world. I have set out to do just that.
