Meet Monica Vilches

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Monica Vilches. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Monica below.

Monica, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
From life itself, separated parents, a slightly dysfunctional family although completely full of love, I have become a traveling woman, perhaps to find myself, and in each country you find new lives, new traditions, cultures, being a traveling involves getting used to living with new people, sleeping in different beds, roofs and lives completely different from your lifestyle… resilience is a wonderful internal power that we all have, sometimes we just need to embrace that power more, resilience It comes from my own essence, from my true self, from getting up 8 times if I have fallen 7 and getting up stronger, from my personal and spiritual growth, from finding the right people along the way, those who did me some harm. Once, they only made me a strong and grateful woman, I am a proudly resilient person, and if I could tell you the story of my life, we would need many cups of coffee.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I tell stories through images captured by my lens. What I try through my photography or my art is to stimulate the senses of those who see beyond the merely visual. I suppose I am a transmitter of emotions in my images, for other people I am just a person with a camera photos.
Perhaps the most exciting is the moment when I see my photographic work in businesses or companies, on record covers, in advertising campaigns, when people know exactly what I do and what I transmit, I love my job, I am a photographer of the soul . Right now I am in Europe, Spain, where I have started a new photographic path, and I have already had offers of several works and an exhibition, I am excited to think about the new adventures that are coming, I appreciate the trust of the people who respect and follow my work, they make me very happy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I love giving advice! Let’s see… My ability to see different realities in very simple things, the quality of being an observer, seeing beyond the obvious, as an old teacher would say “The search”, every day we see the same door when we enter home , but nobody sees the contrasts and shades of colors that that door shows you over time, as I always say, every day there is a new photo and everywhere, I’m honest there are many things that people don’t see and they have unique beauties. First, Look beyond, get out of your comfort zone.
Second, Be gentle in your learning, but bold with the light moments.
Third, Study what you see, study photography, read about photography, find your mentor, find your personal signature, choose your language, your personal stamp on your photos, investigate, learn more, take more photos, make a lot of mistakes, learn learn learn , respect your work, respect your processes, do not criticize yourself in your beginnings, respect those who are starting, embrace your work, print it, look at your work on posters, show it, you do not feel comfortable so quickly, very important. take care of your work tools, they cost you a lot, don’t fill yourself with so many, go outside but also look at the patio of your house, there are impressive things in the patios.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I think I have many escapes when I have anxiety and frustration, nature is one of them, going out to sit even if it’s alone and looking outside, freedom is important, the sea, the enormous ocean, touching the sand, calms me down a lot; Talking to my partner is also a great help, you should always have a good partner by your side on your way, even more so if your career has moments of tension, frustration, excitement, it is very important; I also talk to my friends, express myself with them, I am a person who always looks for many conversations, I look for advice, I look for answers, alternatives, I allow myself to feel the frustration, the anxiety, I cry if necessary, then calmly I return with a new answer. advice?
Allow yourself to feel, heal and look for an alternative and move on with the greatest project, your life.
