We were lucky to catch up with Monika Monk recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Monika, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I was once told that you don’t find your purpose; your purpose finds you. When I discovered mine, it was a time when I was finding myself and navigating my healing journey. The more I started to learn, heal, and grow, the more I wanted to share this knowledge with others. There were also numerous hints of the direction my purpose was leading me, including meeting certain people that helped me grow, opportunities to increase my knowledge about sexual health, spirituality, and wellness, and my community that loved to hear me teach. Your purpose is something you would do just because you find joy, peace, and happiness in doing it, and being an Intimacy & Sensuality Coach does that for me.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I founded Twisted Intimacy because I wanted to create a safe space for women and couples to learn what intimacy, love, and sensuality truly means. My goal is for you to become more confident, intentional, and seductive to improve your relationship with self and others.
I specialize in blending sexual health education with sensual dance movement to give a unique and creative experience learning about your body, mind and purpose. By using my education and personal journey, I crafted my courses, presentations, and workshops around knowing the foundations of intimacy, love, and sensuality and navigating your journey through them.
Whether you are looking to discover more about yourself through Twisted Intimacy’s Self Paced Coaching Course or if you want to join me on my weekly cycle syncing sessions, there are plenty of opportunities to work with me. Book your free consultation today to see what will work best for you!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
To me, the three most important skills that were most impactful for my journey was self-reflection, delegation, and communicating boundaries. When I first started this journey, I was very lost in life; I felt like I didn’t know where to go, who was in my community, or what my life was going to look like now that I was single after a long-term relationship. I felt the pressures from society, and it made me question if I was good enough. So I had to do something to not feel that way anymore; I started reading a lot of self-help books and engaging in more self-care practices. This led me to delve more into my spiritual journey, which brought a lot of inner healing. I learned how to communicate and set boundaries, and I learned how to not be in control of everything and delegate tasks when I felt the pressure was too much.
If you are early on your journey, find the things that make you experience joy, peace, and happiness. This could be a hobby, a skillset, or a gift. Then, if you find yourself able to sustain this feeling, research how you can turn this into a business or something that provides value to the community.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal clients are cis-gender black millennial women that have struggled with intimacy, communicating, and discovering their natural gifts and talents. They are willing to invest in their personal development, open to unique methods of learning and coaching, and want more comfortability with their bodies. Yoga, herbal tea, and meditation are items they are very familiar with using. Some clients may be introverted, while others are omniverts. They are also women that feel they have a bigger purpose but can’t figure out what it is.
