Meet Monique Lynn

We recently connected with Monique Lynn and have shared our conversation below.

Monique, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My purpose found me. Since becoming a fitness trainer, I have experienced so many affirming moments where I realized the importance of what I do. Being able to help my clients transform their lives not only physically but mentally as well has given me the clarity that I am aligned in my purpose. It feels good to have a positive impact on my clients and it encourages me to want to help more people on a grander scale.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I developed a passion for fitness when I began teaching aerobics classes to inner city children at the Boys & Girls Club and at after school programs in my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. While doing so I became a certified Zumba instructor instructing classes at private gyms. Knowing that I could make people of all ages happy and excited about being fit and healthy, sparked bigger goals for myself. This sparked the idea to move to Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from Morgan State University, I made the move to Atlanta. While living here I became a certified personal trainer and was promoted to Personal Training Director at LA Fitness. After gathering enough experience, I ventured into my entrepreneurial endeavors by creating Motivate by Monet LLC. My goal is to help my clients live their best healthy lives through fitness. I specialize in weight gain and weight loss. Not only do I help my clients reach their goal, I am also known for building the booty! I’m most proud of being responsible for the healthy lifestyle changes that my clients make. Changing their lifestyle has encouraged their family members to do the same. I genuinely care for my clients and their journey. I feel that they can sense this through my personality at every session, which sets me apart from others.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities besides my education that were most impactful in my journey were patience, motivation, and emotional intelligence. You will need patience when things are going slow or not as planned. Motivation will help you attain a positive mindset. Emotional intelligence will help you communicate effectively and make the right choices when working with a variety of people. The best way to develop these skills or to improve them is through experience. Experience will help navigate you through the many scenarios and or obstacles that you are faced with, you will learn as you grow. Of course, read self-development books, listen to podcast, or get a mentor but still experience will be your greatest teacher.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I pray. After I pray, I have a feeling of comfort knowing that everything will be okay. If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed, I advise you to exercise, journal, listen to music, move your body, meditate, pray, or go into nature. Observe how you feel when trying these things and you will know what works best for you.
