We were lucky to catch up with Morgan Hannaleck recently and have shared our conversation below.
Morgan, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose, ironically enough, through pain! I learned at a pretty young age that I am someone who feels everything really intensely. When I am sad, it is a very deep, painful sadness. On the other hand, when I am happy, I cherish that moment and hold onto it so closely. I can easily hold space for other people’s emotions and can feel with them. It is a bittersweet gift. As I grew older and developed relationships with others, I also learned that I can love very intensely. I have had relationships where that love wasn’t held with much care, and that has triggered many internal issues within myself. I have developed, healed from, and am still healing from, various mental health conditions. These struggles have created a deep understanding of suffering within me that has led me to the purpose of walking through the darkness with others who are suffering. I know that I am here to be a healer and provide love, empathy, and comfort for others.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I currently work 1:1 with clients to provide counseling services! I am so grateful that I have a career that allows me to be present with others in their pain. I am also a mental health speaker. I travel all around the world and tell my personal mental health story with schools, organizations, and communities! I aim to let others know that they aren’t alone and healing is possible. I am launching my speaking business in 2024 to expand my offerings to the world and reach more people!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think that the quality of empathy, the skill of self-awareness, and the knowledge of psychology has been incredibly impactful in my journey. This combination of qualities and skills have allowed me to deeply resonate and connect with others. I would advise others early in their journey to be curious, say yes more often, make time for self-reflection, and meet new people! We can learn so much from ourselves and others.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone that is willing to show up. That is really it. I believe that everything you need is already inside of you, and you must be willing to explore that. I am here to support and guide you on your journey, and as long as you show up ready to do the work, you will get there!
